I've always jetwashed them off, let them dry then apply a good protector.

Get the autoglym kit for £15-20 it really does the business. My e36 hood looked appalling and IMO it was beyond repair. Get a load of nailbrushes and scrub what you can off first, read the hood instructions and follow them (which is easy) pretty rigidly and you'll be amazed at the results.

You can see in the roof photo that the bonnet is a bit orange looking. It was alright but then I two people drive into it within about 2 weeks of each other. Nearside first, then offside.

I have to replace the gearbox and fix all the engine leaks. I have the boost turned up to the max at the moment so nice and fast.

Right used Autogylm and a massive fail, it was useless!
Was recommended Detox Mold and Midew cleaner and it worked a treat!!!!!!
Still have the Renovo to imporve further but anyone with a moldy hood don't bother with Autoglym get a cheap bottle of mildew remover!!
See my thread if you results

I just used plenty of fairy liquid in water with a nylon scrubbing brush on the roof of our old 306, the foam was a dark brown/green at one point, so much dirt came out - once done the roof looked transformed but was slightly faded, and i sorted this with some spray-on fabric dye i got off ebay.
I've tried to find a pic, because it went from being a terrible state to looking virtually new, but i can't find one.
