I'm planning to go electronic ignition (am currently in the process of a posi to negi earth conversion)
these seem to be the two main options. accuspark and Powerspark, both at £30ish
anyone got any experience good or bad with either. both will supply a kit for my 25D dizzy
they essentially look very similar but if anyone has been using one then any feedback would be great.
also, just to clarify. to re polarize my generator , I need to remove the field terminal then short from the feed (big wire on generator) to the polarity/field connection on the generator , correct?

I would be entirely unsurprised if they are the same product with a different sticker. I've recently purchased from Accuspark and found them fantastic to deal with, though haven't really driven with it yet, so I can't comment on quality/longevity, especially since it's one of those things that either works or it doesn't.
Actually, I also purchased a coil from Powerspark, and though I didn't speak to them (ebay order), they were cheap and quick enough..
No help whatsoever, sorry ;D

No help whatsoever, sorry ;D Still better than a horror story about either. I think for the money I'll just pick one at random

Why not make your own? Thats the retro way, LOL!
Practical classics had a feature on it and I'm in the process of making my own. I'll be posting pics soon!
Can be done basically by fitting the guts of an electronic dizzy into your existing casing which is basically what you are doing when you fit a powersuperspark thingy anyway.
Dizzies are pretty straightforward when you actually look inside them.
Besides scrapyard/made on kitchen table ignition is gonna be far cheaper than luckysuperpowersparkies kit.

Iv,e got the accuspark in my escort together with the sport coil, better starting and running. Iv'e also read the practical classics article and it sounds a bit of a faff to me. For £30 and less than an hour to fit its a no brainer in my book.

I fitted the powerspark unit in the Vitesse. Cured a nasty miss fire and has ran sweet as ever since. Prompt service (off of ebay) and a ronseal ethos.

Does anyone have a link to the PC article? It would be interesting to see how they got by the issue of dwell angles etc. (what you aim to setup when setting your points gap)? As one poster has said, they are probably both the same. If I am honest, I am sure that the H&H Ignition kit is the same as them on closer inspection... The Dolomite has the pricier Lumenition Magnetronic system on (although that has a distributor unique to the Sprint only) although my MGB did have the cheaper Britpart system on it (which was (and I believe still is) cheaper than both of the Accuspark or Powerspark derivatives). The Sprint is a doddle to start and runs quite well where the MGB started and sounded spot on. Whilst I would not expect a power gain by going electric, it does seem to make the engine a little smoother . The Stag runs well too, but that is on an older optical Newtronic kit.

Fitted an accuspark to my green car, spent 2 days without a car, re-fitted points etc, bish bash bosh. I'm guessing I got the one in a million duff set, expensive lesson learned.
I'm sure these sets are all much of a muchness, really there's not much to go wrong. We use Britpart branded ones regularly and they are all trouble free, a good upgrade for the old 2.25 Land Rover engines, better starting and smoother running.

The accuspark guys are about 10 minutes down the road from me; pleasant to deal with and the products I've bought from them seem OK (don't like their spark plugs though - just a personal preference). Web links: here - www.mgbreakers.com/and here: www.accuspark.co.uk/They can be hard to get through to on the phone, mainly because they're usually pretty busy!

I've fitted their 3 legged spark plugs in the Vitesse. I must admit I was somewhat sceptical but to be fair they've given me no grief yet

Update time. Fitted the unit following instructions and ........................Nothing. car turns over fine but doesn't try to start at all, just turns over and over. have refitted points and car is running happily. Maybe in this case the old way is the best way. Looks like I might have a duff unit. Will email powerspark tomorrow for advice/replacement.

Ha Ha, Yeah always my luck. Anyway , they have agreed to send out another unit for me to try so fingers crossed I had a rare DOA and this next one will be spot on. 50/50/90 rule. Whenever you have a 50/50 choice, there's a 90% chance you'll pick the wrong one.

New unit arrived, has been fitted and...................................................works fine! definately revs up better and started easily! glad i've got it now. Though I will be keeping some backup points handy just in case! Simon at powerspark was very helpful sending out a replacement in double quick time.
