Wheel spacers - on the cheap.

Would be a great internet hate crime to weld a load of them together to make massive traveller spacers, could weld studs into them too. I might make some just to see Pistonheads froth at the mouth.

I don't think its warping that is the issue, it's flattening them off so they balance properly. TBF, I think you'd be able to do a good enough job just grinding them flat.

Yeah, I'd have thought they'd have to be quite out to make any noticeable difference. The part its self should be nice and flat and square, so as long as the edge is trimmed down evenly it should be fine. Only downside is that steel's unnecessary and heavy for them being both rotating and unsprung weight, but then when they're free it's not a big deal!

It's also quite a nice touch that they've got the holes in them for the disc retaining screws, so you can fit longer screws through both the spacers and the discs, so they don't move arond when you've got the wheels off.

(On the subject of how important their balancing is, how many of us honestly have run discs without that screw thanks to them rounding/snapping? The head of one of them missing from one side is a lot more miss-balance than even the clumsiest angle grinder wielding nutter will end up with, but I've never had/seen/heard of any problems with it.)
