after buying a standard hpi e10 rx7 i decided i wanted to modify, so bought some wheels. and added camber... without buying new parts. basically choppe dout a lump and pin drilled it, may buy hopped up parts eventually but needed camber noa! and enjoy modifying things the unusual way. so new shell arrived the other day.. cut it out and had to modify my posts, used some tubing to slip over the existing ones cut to lentgh and violla! plan is to add wide arches, after succesfull spacering of wheels. and painting the toyota hiace two tone. black at bottom and smoke grey up top. will be fitted with the gold ss'rs when done. and never happy with being samey so decided to create my own shell via vacuum forming. materials needed. forming sheet - got molding clay - didnt order enough.. more coming hoover, oven etc etc.. thats all to be updated as i do it, so heres the start of my project. very early stages created a block of some random polystyrene and coating in clay to give a hard surface to work on.. when dry all round will add another layer of clay which will be refined into the finished product. plan is to make my actual car i drive daily! will take some time, but going for a very fine outcome.. heres hoping! oh.. and motor is on the way.. gone brushless ;-) updates when installed

I was looking at the other thread, thinking; "well the wheels look good, and that camber mod is pretty trick but that stock, prepainted HPI shell has GOT to go!"
Little did I think you'd be scratchbuilding your own! You've raised the bar by quitte a few clicks, I better get started on my build now!

That is so annoying, I can't even view that link without paying them $5
Is the forum actually worth it? I'd rather spend it on beer and hookers
Sorry for the hijack smurf! I like your daily and am looking forward to seeing your new body shell.

little update. new shel painted... bit disspointed. colours on the cans showd a massive difference in the colours. top half was supposed to be mid dark grey, with black two tone underneath... the two colours were so close you can harldy tell any diff. still... looks nice on the ssr longchamps, 12mm offset highest offset available. and i wanted some toe out, so.. cut a section of pole pilfered some old arm mount parts of an old rc car. drilled hole into pipe and arm mount piece an popped split pin through in desired position. (shorter than standard) violla! toe out heres the pics oh.! and new motor. 9turn brushless... 4300kv

tested it today, as was waiting on battery connector.. ! its hella fast. kept the drit tyres on it and glad i did. worried if the standard drivetrain will be able to survive.
the toe out mod works lovely, threw it into a corner and it oversteered insanely! result. will be taking it to my local rc track and playing about on my next day off. might take some weights etc and play about with weight distribution.
