I've stripped out all the sound deadening in the Mini and repaired the floor, scraped off all the old Waxoyl from the underside and done the welding. The question is, what stone guard is the best to use over the original paint?. I want a ripple finish to cover the repairs neatly (inside and out) along with stopping any drumming ( I'll be adding sticky backed sound deadening as well). The choices seem to be 3M, Hammerite, Gravitex, Wurth, Tetro shutz or Por 15....... It was so easy when i was last in a body shop spraying old engine oil or brushing on under seal. Oh, it must be over paintable as well. Thanks in advance.

We use upol raptor truck bed liner at work,it's tintable so u can use the exact colour of your car! ;D,also it's tough as anything!,best product I e used in years for underbody protection,well worth a look  |

It's worth bearing in mind that if you use it on the inside you'll have a job getting sticky-back sound deadening to stick to a ripple finish.

No i'd heat and shape the sound deadening to the floor first, then stone guard over it when all the paintwork is finished. There didn't used to be so much choice, they all state they do the same job, but experience tells me that the most expensive isn't always the best, hence asking for real world opinions from those that use it. The Raptor stuff looks good, i think i'll hit my local suppliers tomorrow and get some prices and go on from there. Thanks for the replies chaps.

i used gravitex last week goes on well and dries quite quick don't know how long it will last but its still on after a week so good so far

I've found upol gravitex quite brittle, chips off easily. good for painting over though.

Thanks chaps, the bodyshop near me said to use Gravitex and are donating a couple of tins to the cause tomorrow, if the shutz gun arrives in time i might get to have a go this weekend and then get some more, only time will tell......
