Time has come for my wife, Amie, to sell her first (and only) car
There are numerous reasons for finally parting with it, the latest been the loss of her driving licence due to health problems. The car itself was parked up a couple of months ago with early signs of headgasket faliure and a looming MOT. And apparently we have too many cars on the drive now
Anyway, onto the car. It's a 1992 K reg 205 Junior 1.1 carb, yellow (same as the 205 Rallye) 117k, no tax or MOT (expired in April). Very basic spec but it's had a few bits added like a rear wiper, 1.4 exhaust (extra silencer), lights on buzzer, 205 Rallye steering wheel and a 5 speed gearbox (from another 1.1). Also has GTi dampers fitted all round. Over the last 3-4 years it's had a new clutch, cambelt & water pump, front discs & pads, both driveshafts, track control arms, rear shoes & cylinders, exhaust downpipe and ignition coil along with regular servicing.
Bodywork is generally ok, showing it's age a little with the odd scratch and minor ding, does clean up well though. Front bumper is damaged, along with a dent in the n/s wing, following an argument with a bus a few years ago! Visible rust is limited but I've not made a full scale investigation for it, I suspect it will be minimal though.
The bad bits; as already mentioned the head gasket is gone, no temp guage on the dash so no idea if it overheats but it misfires and chucks out a lot of steam. It's been puffing blue smoke on start up or after long periods of idle for a while so needed valve stem seals anyway. MOT has run out, the only item of any concern from last year is the front to rear brake pipes. I was told to get them done for this year, not expensive but awkward as they go over the fuel tank. The rear beam has had a small amount of play on the n/s for a while, never got any worse and there's no excessive camber. Also, the yellow Rallye steels in the photo will be sold separately, standard black steels with mismatched tyres will be fitted instead.
It would be very easy to just send this straight to the scrap man but Amie would like to see it live on, preferably as a project for someone to learn on or as a track car (I have a TU5J4 engine and unlocked ecu available for sale if you want to unite the two ). Obviously the car will need trailering away, I may be able to assist with this if it's not going too far.
Price is £150 ono, vehicle is in Rugby, Warwickshire. Please get in touch if you need anymore information, greggboyd@hotmail.com or
