I hate caravans, detest caravans and would like them all rounded up and dumped into the deepest trenches of the Atlantic ocean. Just my opinion like. So, how about some cars that could tow a caravan to, say, Tibury docks where it could be loaded onto a Freighter that would go out into the middle of the Atlantic and......... Some quality here: Ok, the next one is not strictly a tow car BUT you could put a caravan on the back and its seriously cool so, to that end, it belongs in here. ;D

Sorry to revive an old thread! But i have just been thinking about a suitable tow car which would make a good daily driver, but don't know much about towing! Problem is my mg track car isnt very road usable and i want aomething cool to daily drive. I'm no loger a volvo lover and I'm considering a bmw e30 as a daily car. Has anyone experience towing with an e30 touring or could you tell me is it possible to tow a 900kg car plus trailer with an e30 touring?

I don't know the towing capacity of an e30, but they must weigh about 1200kg? I wouldn't fancy towing a trailer and a tonne of track car with that, personally. 5-series touring is a bit weightier and might make a more stable tow car. A bigger engined one would make things more enjoyable too.

When I bought it, my 6TL was collected by a chap kind enough to store it for me on Anglesey using his white Xantia estate. By a bizarre coincidence, a year later I collected the 6TL from Anglesey with my own white Xantia estate. It was an uneventful journey home to the opposite side of the country and the Xantia was an amazingly competent towing machine.
