We popped up to Gaydon on Sunday in the unusually seasonal weather. There was a mixed 'classic' gathering, a whole bunch of Metros, a number of Vivas and more Auntie Rovers than I've ever seen in one place before. And the museum itself of course, which had discounted entry for people who had come in old cars.
This Spridget was super cool.
8 port.
Amals. Om nom nom.
RWD Metro.
Big Triumph looked great on these wheels.
Volvo PV445 Pick up! A rare coachbuilt original chassis cab.
A few of the Rovers.
A couple of Vivas.
Inside the museum they've got a couple of LSR cars borrowed from elsewhere.
twin turbo RV8 in MGF a like.
Fastest ever Jaguar. Yes, faster than an XJ220
I want to put this engine in my OXford. Its out of one of the '50s MG Speed Record cars.
Unfortunatly the HUMUNGOUS Shorrock blower would get in the way of teh steering, the inner wing, the suspension and quite possibly the front wheel itself, it is so wide.
Some of the other museum highlights.
I really, really, would like to make one of these for real. A Triumph styling exercise. They could have cornered the MPV market before it existed (Multiplas excepted)
ANother favourite is the gas turbine Le Mans car.
with its corduroy interior.
Plenty more photos here:
