Hi there guys, you will all recognise this car from the for sale section where it was for agggggges, anyway, I went on saturday and parted with a stupidly small ammount of money for it! Currently it sounds a lot like a top fuel dragster, or a saab with no exhaust, but I am waiting on parts and this will be fixed this week. I drve this thing 300dd miles back and apart from the noise its very smooth, and a nice place to be! Oh while I remember the Lazy Zebra thing, bascally my mate rekons it looks like an akward Zebra, so that may stick! Really I havnt done much apart from order an exhaust, and ive started treating and painting the rust spots on the door bottoms, but I have taken a few photos, so for now they will have to do! Enjoy! (Excuse the photos, I only have my iPhone with me) Cheesy pose shot And Because its a Saab some shots next to an aircraft!

Nice, think I remember this from over on UK Saabs. What's the mileage on it? High mileages are like a badge of honour in Saab circles, the engine's not even run in until you hit 150,000 Got 162k on my Saab 99 and 197k on my 900 vert. Both engines are smooth as butter and they don't get driven gently! The stainless wheel trims are cool and quite rare, Saab actually made an alloy wheel of the same style known as "manhole" alloys (for obvious reasons) jpowell.tripod.com/saab-wheels/#manholeThey're quite hard to get hold of here but were common on cars sold in the US

Nice ;D The engine in these are definitely nice and eager, good flat torque curve too. They love to be ragged and don't seem to run out of puff high up the rpm range like some engines do, you just got to be nice with the gearshifts. The Saab 'box really doesn't like to be rowed too quickly - you can't smash it from one gear straight to the next as it has occasionally been known that the previous gear doesn't disengage, then you end up with two gears selected at once and the gearbox locks up or worse the gearbox casing shatters. It was designed '60s when it was only anticipated to process 67bhp, so be nice a leave a short pause between deselecting one gear and engaging the next one Personally I got into the habit of double clutching my gearshifts (especially downshifting), its easier on the box but it also just makes you feel cooler when you drive

Right, slightly pants updat as really iv just been crusing round in this thing, i really rather like it, my plans for it ar to just mint it up, and ive got 1 or 2 changes in mind, so stand by! First thing i had to do was replace the rear section of the exhaust, i had to get a back box, and a little bit of the centre section, the system is in about 9 pieces! i have no photos of me doing it, we all know what an exhaustlooks like, but have a photo of the result, I had big plans for yesterday to really start cleaning and detailing, anyway a combination of a massive hangover, and rain prevented this, and i cleaned, rubbed down and stone chipped 1 door bottom! before after Good Huh? lol I did give the dash i good scrub though! oh and heres my High Mialage Badge of Honour! lol Ans that it, told you it wasnt all that, there will be progress this week hopefully!

Looking good there Richard, it just needs a nice set of alloys now. Must admit I was very tempted when this one was last up for sale.

Quick update time, Spent a bit of time on the car thiks weekend, cleaned up and minted the body, tidied up and painted the rear valance too, it still needs a little bit of work, but it will do for now!I went round a tidied the car up, touching up all the little bits and bobs that were bothering me, i then had a choice, carry on and do some jobs that actually need doing, or crack on with less important but more fun things, the Fun won! First as this car apparently looks like a lazy Zebra i decided it neede a bit more black, so i got started! After a wash the rear looked like this Bath Time During Fitted!! Not everyones taste i know, makes it look a bit Euro maybe, but i like it, and the indicators are still just about useful! This was a nightmare of a job, and i wont bve doing it again! Next up i needed to upgrade my in car entertainment, i likes the look of the old casette player, but it was pants! I found a CD player in the garage, got an Ipod cable off the Bay for £4 and got to work! Finally while i was inside the car i thought to myself, what else does this car need? I know a CB Radio! So I got this off my pal! not bad for £10! I will be restoring the case to get it looking better soon, but i wanted it in and working! Now i wanted the set up to be removable, so i popped to home bargains, got this and got cutting. soldering and taping there was some kind of transformer inside i had to take out but my word it now works! Got a mag mount and what not from Maplin and its up and running! quite the days work! So i treated the car with a trip to Barry Island and then went a bit photo mad! Enjoy! And thats about it for today!
