Well i had been looking forward to this weekend and my paypacket next week....
looks like it might well be my last one.
Just been told we are being closed down and my job won't exist any more.
So god knows what to do now. I've got a workshop and house to support on no income.

Dude that sucks!
I was in the same position in 2009/10 and its tough. You have to keep your chin up and know that it'll get better.

Happened to me 2 years ago mate, no warning, just got called up into the tearoom "we're finished lads" had to claim my redundancy off the government etc. I'd spent just over ten years in the motor trade and now I'm an.....Undertaker. It's hard but things will improve eventually, keep your chin up!

Thats really bad news, is it worth putting on the thread what work you are looking for in case someone on here knows of anywhere thats taking people on?

I was made redundant in March 2011 and am still looking for something full time and full pay. I was notionally self employed for a while but IT is about a closed shop right now. If you have a skill you can make pay freelance it may be worth trying your luck at that. As has been said without knowing what you do then its hard to say what you can do.
I'm glad of two things
1. Mortgage Protection Insurance (despite all the jackalls trying to get me to claim I was miss sold it) 2. I had two credit cards with good limits and no ballances.
Without those two things I wouldn't have lasted this long

Well I reckon working for myself may well be the only option, whether or not I can keep my head above water is another question.

bad to hear that.......but as one door closes, another opens, its finding the b**tard thats the problem! I worked for a company for 15 years and found myself in your position, I thought the world had ended, it was however one of the best things to happen. I let everyone know i was after work, let out both spare rooms (after a huge clearout enabled by time off work) and kept myself busy, often doing small jobs for neighbours and mates. it did not take long before I was earning reasonable dosh, went self employed and forgot all about looking or ever wanting to work for a company again. I thought i enjoyed my old job, but realise now I was in controlled hell!

You have to treat finding a new job as a job and take a structured approach to finding a new one. Keeping a log of what you're doing is a help (you need to do it for job seekers anyway).
I'm starting out as self-emplyed lots of opportunities but not much that's actually bringing in money and it's really easy to get distracted especially by this forum when I should be working.
Good luck.

Don't want to be that guy but ,.. well I am. Very sorry to hear you have been made redundant, but this thread lacks old car content, so I'm locking it. Good luck finding work.
