I'm not sure if it's just me but in the last few days I've noticed any threads I've read still have the 'NEW' icon next to them even if I've closed the site down, opened it up again, refreshed the page, gone to other pages etc....
It happens on my phone, my PC and my netbook so not particular to one computer....but is anyone else finding this?
It's only a little thing but it's really annoying because I keep thinking threads in most sections have new posts but I open them to find out there's nothing new in them. With how fast the general section moves it's frustrating that I go to read something new on a thread I'm enjoying (e.g. the Toyota 2000 thread) only to find there's nothing new at all.

In fact, here is a screen grab of the General Section I took just now. Despite having read nearly all of the threads in there, they are still showing up as having 'new' posts. Even the *OOOF* thread which hasn't had anything new since 24th April is showing a new post. Like I say, it's nothing major but it's a glitch that's fairly annoying: I'm using Firefox on my PC and netbook and Safari on my phone - not that it seems to make any difference.

I will get round to finishing it at some point

Just noticed that it is a bit weird - for me it is effecting the General Board and Riders Rides but not the Technical Board or this section edit - and now Readers Rides works properly but the General Board is still being odd

wonder if it has something to do with logging in from different pc's / phones etc and it confusing itself as to what you read last time from that IP
Its a shame proboards isnt a lot up to date like other forums with a view all new posts since my last visit type button, rather than just the new posts which only show the very latest ones

Yes, I have this happening. It seems to happen if you re-load any particular sub-forum quite frequently - I've seen it in General, Tech, and Readers Rides.
I suspect it's the database being slow to update or making short-cuts when there are a lot of queries coming in - I suspect that RR takes qute a lot of server time to run. I have seen a 501 page (internal server error) when trying to load RR recently, which is a classic symptom of heavy server loads.

ah, not just me then. i thought i had a cache issue or something.
nice to see its just proboards being utterly wibblepoo as usual. ive never known forum software with so many 'niggles'. mind you anyone who makes a special 'angry bear' error page to try to cover their service just being rubbish cant really be taken as a serious service provider, and as has been mentioned, their forums are positivy antiquated compared to well, everyone else!

Glad its not me! I thought it was just the fact I read some on the phone and some on the PC!
UPDATE: Weirdly it only seems to happen intermittently.. I think it may be due to using the back button vs clicking to the forum via the link in top left..

Yep, mines doing it too, glad it's not just me, but it is irritating. I really hope it doesn't hang around for long.
I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with 'back' or anything, I've closed pages in just about every way possible to see if there's a way around it. (including my laptop cutting out from overheating, that wasn't so intentional! lol)
On a similar note, my account permanently shows 1 new message, I've mentioned it to mods before when I've seen them in person, and apparently it's also not just me. Doesn't really bother me anymore though.

As James said, I think it's a sign of heavy server load. I usually find rapping the F5 button eventually sorts it
