Pretty mean eh? Details like the crotch cooler vents and grooved bumpers mean this is either an early 50's car (correct me if I'm wrong bug experts) or one died in it's creation. Whatever the back story, it's got a whole pile of nasty to go with that cool. Der Blitzkrieg Kafers can be found here: www.dbkvw.com/I found the pics here: euskadivw.skynetblogs.be/septembre-2008/I suspect that the fact that the post is from 2008 means that the car looks different now.

That is perfect! I always find it odd that boosted aircooled stuff hardly ever runs an intercooler, do they just run low boost?

Hope the roof fabric is heat proof! (Though I note its not there in the driving pic)
I don't think you could make a Beetle cabriolet look any meaner than that ;D

I think it looks great but I think I would need to detail the Fuchs as they are a bit lost and narrowed beams are one of my pet hates. Dave

JA!!! If everyone who had ever matt blacked their motor, added gloss detailing, the world would be a much better place.

JA!!! If everyone who had ever matt blacked their motor, added gloss detailing, the world would be a much better place. I would think it would get boring pretty quick. A single extremely high-powered expected-it-to-be-resto-cal-but-it's-not Beetle Cabrio makes it very unboring.

Crotch coolers were '51 only. I was being a bit sneaky and hedging my bets actually...I always thought that (crotch coolers = '51) to be the case but chat amongst my aircooled enthusiast chums said it was a '52 and I didn't want to look foolish! I wonder whether it's a Cabrio thing or an export vs domestic anomaly? Or both.

I think the grey area comes from the crotch coolers being introduced in '51 for the '52 model so could go both ways.

That's the first bug in a long time, that I've actually given more than just a cursory glance. That one required a good long looking at! Works a treat I reckon. The only think I'd change would be to either black every part of the engine OR have every part of the engine polished or chromed instead.
