As the title says, I am wondering about the practicalities of owning a 65 bug whilst still being able to cart our greyhound around. I'm trying to talk myself out of the idea, but a friend is selling the car, which is a really tidy one, and which I have always had a soft spot for. Hmmm...

I'm not going to help here in terms of talking you out of it, but my fully grown Golden Retreiver fits perfect in the back of a 70s bug. In fact he's even comfortable in the back of my BGT, which is alot smaller.

I should think a greyhound would be ok. My largeish Lab fits fine in my small 2 door E21 saloons.

Should be no problem, stick a cover on the back seat and put air fresher in the back.

Cracking replies, cheers for the entertainment! Not sure anyone has tried to persuade me not to buy it though, which is never good with a car whore! May have accidently sent a message asking what sort of money they are looking for it. I hope it's much too pricey..:.

Get it, rat it, fit a roofrack so your the same as the rest of the dubbers, and tie your greyhound to that. Just an idea.....

getting a greyhound in the back of a bug you are joking right, mine can hardly get its  in the back of as 5 door cavalier they are not that bendy as somone has put. big old lumps they are prob end up hurting the animal, would not even try getting mine dog in me 72 bug... but its you dog you can do what the hell you want to.. good luck with it all:-) |

Also, don't buy the Beetle... But do pass on his details to me. ;D I'm looking (needing one with an urge stronger than Whitney Houston for crack) for a solid early Beetle. |

Well it turns out the Beetle is going to be up for 4k, which is pretty much double what I would have been able to justify. The more I think about it, the more I think she would struggle in the back of the car. Unfortunately, unlike most other dogs, greyhounds are not able to 'sit' like other dogs. It's either stand up or flop on one side! What isn't helping is the fact that I now seem to have a number of Beetles saved in my eBay. Push the temptation away from me!
