Wasn't sure about posting this, because it is in reality a Car for Sale. It's no connection to me, I just thought some on here might appreciate it as much as me. I'm not into the whole VAG thing really, but this car is near perfect in my eyes. The colour, the engineering, the stealth feel to it, just epic. I would have maybe gone with a dark red interior, rather than tan, but that is just being pedantic. Been for Sale for a while....it's not cheap. Spec sheet is very impressive, from what little I know of these cars..... www.pistonheads.com/sales/3312756.htm

This has been for sale for a very long time, and whilst it is very nice, I can't see him ever getting that kind of money for it.

i'd rather have a more period dash with some , as said, reddish seat. maybe more of a pinkish hue like this lupo. but 4wd and that power in a mk2 has got to be a hell of a laugh, love it.

Yeah a standard Mk2 interior would be much nicer.

the interior is a bit of a miss match of parts but i think the dash is one of its better parts

i wouldnt say the price is that over the odds really, given the standard of work and the quality of the parts used. it need to be finished though, the interior just screams 'i ran out of money before i finished it' to me. i mean, for 16k, id expect the front and rear seats to be the same colour, and also to match the door cards........i don't think the audi dash particularly suit it though. i can see what he was thinknig, with the wheels to tie it in, maybe if it continued through to a full trim in tan/brown baseball stitched leather it might pull it off.

It's very nice, stunning in fact and as others have said I am far from VW's biggest fan. I loved this...until I saw the price. Then I was all like... +1 I wouldnt say the price is that over the odds really, given the standard of work and the quality of the parts used. Maybe, but how limited is the market for it? I would imagine anyone with that kind of money to spend on a mk2 Golf would be looking for a almost zero mileage, box fresh, concourse one or if they want a modified one I'd imagine they'd pay less for a based car to modify to there own spec. I don't doubt that the work that has gone into it far exceeds 16k but it is hella pricey!

I know nothing of value, and am not interested in what he thinks it is worth.
I do really like the build. That is impeccably executed but as Dez says, a little more work on the interior timmings to make it "there".

Lots to like about this one. This is way closer to the kind of car RR is about than the matt painted, stretch tyred rat-looker that I'm frequently told we're about!
As for the price, I won't be buying it for that, but if I were a rich chap and wanted a super-nice Golf to put in my car collection, I could see no reason not to pay for it.

I was parked next to this car at Edition 38 Autojumble last year and spent quite a bit of time chatting with the owner.
Everything regarding the engine & running gear, the choice of base shell (a genuine 3door syncro) the engine install/bodywork/smooth bay is all done to a very high standard and is built to last/perform.
At the time the Audi dash was in and the owner was using Porsche Tombstone seats and did say that what he really wanted was to have the seats and doorcards retrimmed as the finishing touch which to be fair would finish the car nicely.
Regarding the money, I'm fairly sure a genuine buyer could haggle but I very much doubt the owner will entertain cheeky offers. Just finding a 3door syncro in any condition is hard work (even if you venture to Europe) and to replicate the shell/paint/engine would set you back 10K easily before worrying about any of the rest of the running gear or interior.

I generally can't get all that exited about Mk2 Golfs but that really is a classy piece of work. I particularly like to see it with small bumpers instead of the usual big 'uns. Yeah, the inside could do with a bit of effort and in reality would need it to truly justify the price but in all other respects it's spot on. If this is what you want then £16k is fine... as I doubt any non-DIYer could get it together for that.

Hmm. New Focus or that, new Focus or that, hmmmm. I know where my money would go.
That's a very clean build, if his engineering skills match the finish level I'll bet it'll be easy to own too.
