I have been offered a solid NOT RUSTY beta coupe ie, its done 36k and its been standing for years. Not sure what to offer, if I even want it and mostly what it would be worth on the road with MOT ect. Its pretty mint inside and out..
anyone had one?

Nope, but I love them, and if it isn't rusty, seriously, I'd snap their arm off! How much, well I've just had a quick look on here www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk and they have a few for between 2 and 6k, so probably worth a few quid if it is in good condition!

Yeah, I would say that's a bit much for a car that's been standing for a while. I would have said 600 tops!!!

Fantastic wee things, 2 litre ie engine much nicer than previous carb one. Get some photos', it doesn't seem too dear if its tidy.
It sounds good to me - where is it?

I had a V reg 2.0 (carb) HPE and loved it. Unfortunatley even though less than 10 years old at the time it was rotted beyond saving. Be wary of previous welding as it might just be a cover up job to get an MOT and for £1900, without MOT, for a car that has been standing I'd expect something that has never been welded nor needs it now ! Any work needed and they quickly become money pits plus I found parts difficult / expensive to source. Of course we only have a brief description of the car and it might be a minter well worth the asking price - on the other hand it might also be a sub £500 restoration project so examine carefully and don't dismiss anything like "it only needs an exhaust, tyres, discs, brake rebuild, fuel tank sills etc" as cheap or simple to sort out.
BTW If it is a Volumex then it's the supercharged version ;D

If it really isn't rusty it is very rare - most of them started to rust before they left the factory . . .

If it really isn't rusty it is very rare - most of them started to rust before they left the factory . . . So true I had a T reg ('78 ?) coupe about 20 years ago, even that needed sills rebuilding for the last MOT I put it through Check boot floor for crash damage (the frontend sticks to tarmac like ... - so lots go tailfirst off the road) fueltanks were a problem even when I had mine, guess they are now unobtainable. saloon & HPE tanks are different, only know as mine rusted out along the seam mine was a daily, the rear calipers needed to be stripped every year for the MOT (the handbrake is a weird setup - a normal cable operates the hydraulic pistons inside the caliper ) bottom ends only lasted me about a year, no idea why but other folk never had a problem. keep the oil at the high mark, engine is canted over to fit under the bonnet, 1 emergency stop and I lost oil pressure for a split second and needed another bottom end rebuild Nice touches are a neat enginebay light that comes on when you open the bonnet oil level gauge on the dash so you can check fluid levels from the driver seat 4 headlights, outer pair are dipped, when you go to high beam you get all 4 on for instant daylight Weird, odd, frustrating, and great fun pics please ;D

There is no rust I can see, it starts but the brakes don't work. It seems priced OK judging by others on net. My mate has it at his work as he was going to do the brakes. I'm gona try a lower offer tomorow, he was going to mot it and sell it but it would be well out of my range by then I have some poor pics.

Looks really good, tho I'd want to have a seriously thorough inspection before I paid 'rust free' money for one. Check out www.betaboyz.co.uk/They know pretty much all there is to know and reproduce some hard to get parts too...

i had one years ago while i was at college, silver with pale blue interior, it was a very pretty car tbh,
there was one a few years ago on ebay with an integrale turbo engine in it,
grale or the delts turbo engine should drop straight in,
mine rusted so bad the entire boot floor fell out without me realising, next time i opened the boot it was just gone...
adored mine though,

there was one a few years ago on ebay with an integrale turbo engine in it, grale or the delts turbo engine should drop straight in. I wouldn't count upon it being that simple. Beta engine was canted back 20deg. for better weight distribution with rear exit exhaust. Delta was more tightly packaged (revised Fiat Ritmo, Strada platform) with upright engines and front exit exhaust difficult to accomodate to Beta subframe. Brakes had an unusual dual circuit arrangement. All 4 wheels one circuit, with both front wheels on supplimentary circuit; dual brake hoses to front calipers. Somewhat diabolical gearshift linkage whose bushes & joints can be prone to wear. Typical Italian driving position encouraged by long clutch pedal travel. Sloping boot also leaves rear corners prone to parking damage. Lancia went to a lot of effort trying to eradicate rust concerns so nearly every panel was revised (with minimal cosmetic revision) compared to early versions over 10year production. ie was introduced with final revisions.

Also the head was switched about so that the exhaust on the Thema/Delta is where the inlet is on the beta...
There are a few 'immaculate' examples for sale, but the price is pretty good if is as solid as those pics appear.
