well, on saturday we fitted the coilovers to the rocco, sorted the ride height and wallowing right out ;D Just need some smaller tyres now Then i started painting some new wheels. I got some scalas cheap and thought they'd look sweet in black. After spending loads on abrasives, primer, paint and laquer they have reacted and look rough Means I'm going to have to fork out £120 for blasting and powder coat Then, to cap it all off, i just pop out and notice a slight ripple in the passenger door, have a closer look and some C**T has tried to break in Looks like ill either have to paint the door or fit armour plates (that look curse word!) So, I'm a bit curse word off really. Still, at least its low now.

Looks lovely and low now, racy stance! nice Commiserations about the paint, one of those crappy things that 'just happens' I'm afraid, very annoying though. However, the attempted break in does not fit within the 'just happens' view, some light fingered little turd thought they'd try to help themselves to a car/belongings, and that really makes me unbelievably angry, if I had the oportunity (do we ever?) to catch them I'd slam their hands repeatedly in the door, thus ensuring the likelyhood of them being a little apprehensive about doing anything similar again. Little sh*ts. On a brighter note though, have to say again it looks way sweet that low!

The teardrops were once polished, but years of abuse soon saw to that!
And thats not the sump, its a cover plate for the accelerator cable etc (its auto)
More pics when ive sorted the new wheels and got it a bit closer to the floor!

Having it handling should have it in its element. Pity some scroat tries to ruin it. Bad luck about the wheels, if you are anywhere near Birmingham theres a place that apparently powder coats cheap... Aside frrom the probs are you happy you are sticking with this car? certainly has the makings of a real cool retro ride.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Wow that's nice and low! I reckon those new rims will look TEH SEKS once fitted - specially in that colour. Very cool! As for the attempted break-in... what a cnut. I think you should be allowed to anally violate the f*ckers with whatever implement they used to break in with. I know that sinking feeling when you get to your car and realise someones been f*cking with it... horrible.

Yeah, I'm going to stick with it. Ill drop the wheels at the powder coaters tomorrow. I'm going to paint a little red band around the outside, should look sweet. Ive also got some 165/60/14's to go on, so i can get it lower ;D We worked out when the attempted break in happened. Saturday night i left it in a car park in town, when we came back some guy was crouched down looking in the passenger window and another was looking in the car next to it. As we entered the car park they walked off, i new they were up to no good but saw no damage. At least i know it wasnt in our street. Makes me mad that i saw them and didnt realise, i have a 2 foot breaker bar in the car with a broken socket welded on the end for just such occasions

Looks really good! Low pro tyres would complete it And thats not the sump, its a cover plate for the accelerator cable etc (its auto) Heh heh, my Mk1 Golf is an auto too and has that plate thing. When I bought the car it was really low and when I first jacked it up that plate and the bottom of the gearbox was covered in clumps of mud, grass and other debris from grounding! Watch when you go really low that the driveshafts don't foul on the holes in the body where they poke through to connect to the gearbox when the suspension is compressed. Mine has a bit of scuffing there from previously very low running.

thanks for the tip, ill keep an eye on it.
I took the wheels to the powder coaters today so at least that will be sorted.
I also fitted some armour plates to the door handles, temporarily to cover the damage till i can be arsed to re paint the door.
I also picked up another track rod (only one side is adjustable on these!!) so when the new wheels and tyres are on i can set the hight and get the tracking sorted. Then i need the fuel/ignition set up, new wheel bearings and a bit of faffing and its done for now.
Then i can concentrate on the ghia ;D
