I've found a 1979 Toyota Cressida, lowered, alloys, Manual. Taxed & MOT'd. I'm going to have a look, but know nothing about them. Can anyone help? What do I need to lok out for, apart from the obvious with old J stuff? How much are they worth? What's parts availability like? As could be replacing my 306 as a daily if it's any good  |

That wouldn't be a silver one with flames and chrome 8-spokes, would it?
It's well worth the asking price - the guy who owns it (Paddle) has had it ages - it's a rock-solid example of the breed...

That looks mint! Although the flames are gash in my opinion. Assuming it is the right car though. Does anyone know much about it then?

I read somewhere that these don't rust as bad as a lot of other J stuff of the era. But don't quote me. Anyway its gorgeous get it bought. Where the hell are people finding this stuff? Last time I saw a Cressida was about 1992.

If it's anything like Rmad's, it'll be nice. The interior is mint and stands up well to modern standards and the engine has plenty of poke too. Yup, lose the flames, they just don't seem to suit the car.

that one looks very tidy  funnily enough i am just about to put the wifes one up for sale lowered deep 7"front &8"rear x14" alloys needs som body work passenger door is dented and a bit of ruston rear arches and door bottoms not to bad it taxed and just flew through its test but the wife has just brought a 96 commodore VS so it has to go looking for about £550  |

there is a standard one driving round here. its lime green and when i saw it last had a rack on the boot. i think they are ace ... mainly down to rmad.

 What to look out for? Not much really, mine is well preserved but it has signs of rust at the far corners of the dash where it meets the windscreen (on the inside) and is starting to go along the chrome trim at the window base on the rear doors. Structurally there's no faults that I can think of, other than doing your basic checks. Unless that one has had some serious suspension work don't expect it to have much suspension travel on the front either! I'm obviously biased, but Cressys are great cars...and those that are left seem to have been well cared for. Those are steel wheels by the way, not alloys. ;D |

Yes I know they're steels now I've seen the pics Haven't seen the car yet as I'm stuck at work (again) would love the thing, but not so sure it's viable due to milage-already done over 300 since sat! |
