Ok, so I put an engine in the car to make it go, I now needed some brakes to make it stop, and I didn't want to spend loads on the aftermarket kits so I thought it has to be a oem set up, managed to source the correct carriers and then discs and pads all in one go which worked out well. I got myself a 280mm setup with g54 calipers. The originals are 256mm but the calipers are a bit weedy! Old vs New, pics don't show it but they are a fair bit bigger and calipers and much beefier. Bit rusty but all in good nick! And fitted to the car. All seems good when test drove and the surface rust on the discs has cleaned up nice!

Absolute quality pal. Just read the whole thing. Currently half way through my own mk2 rebuild and seeing threads like this really re-inspire me.
Wasn't made up with colour choice at first but the more I looked the more It grew on me. You should transplant this thread on the mk2 owners club site. Loads of helpful advice on there as well as just good banter etc.

Extremely envious of this! the mk2 is my favourite car and I love the 1.8t engine. Also the Lada colour is cool, awesome build!
Cheers, Drew

After getting a bit busy on ebay I ended up with a full central locking and and electric window set up, it's all installed now and working as I would have out of the factory - in my excitment I didn't take as many pics as I would have liked. Here's what I did take.... Fuel flap catch bonded to fuel flap to enable the fuel flap lock to engage it: Tailgate solenoid installed - no bar to fit lock at present - thinking of ideas for this - either make a bar or install a boot popper, whichever I go with I will update: Whichever way I go I had to remove the plinth - I will either modify one to lose the hole for the lock or just reinstall: Passenger door stripped to take pipework for locking, and electric window reg installed. No photos of drivers door but a similar story! All wiring has been run through the car alongside the original loom taking the correct path! Thanks for reading...
