Afternoon all,
Alpine CDM-7983R 3CD Shuttle CD Player – yep the one that has 3CDs in the dash.
Bought by me recently on a bit of a whim because I always thought this head unit was proper cool by Alpine in the early-mid 1990s, but in reality I can’t see me fitting it in my car. Although if nobody buys it I'll give it a shot and I do like just looking at it...
I got it from someone who removed it from their Porsche 993 Turbo. It was the factory unit by the looks of things and the only other model I can find it being standard or optional in is an AMG Merc, so it’s a pretty special bit of kit and the previous owner reckoned it cost the best part of £900 back in the day.
Obviously, I haven’t tested it but I was assured it all works fine and can’t see any reason why it wouldn’t. The only downside is that there’s a bit of wear on some of the buttons where the black has worn away, although it does little to detract from the appearance. It comes with the fascia case, fascia, CD cartridge and manual, and leads.
I’m not entirely sure – if someone knows for definite then please say – but I think you need an external amp to power it. That said, I also have a four-channel Alpine V12 F307 amplifier that could be negotiated.
I’d like £45 for it posted to a UK address or can be collected from Gloucester for slightly less.
Would look proper cool in a 944 or Merc/BMW!
