Don't really want to sell this, but as I fancy a Range Rover (and I've run out of space on my Classic policy for more cars), the T5 is up for sale.
I've used this lots over the past year, its taken me up and down the UK many times, all over Europe on two trips and been thoroughly reliable.
I bought it for £1000 and probably spent over £2000 on it in maintenance and modifications! I need my cars to be dependable over lots of miles, and as I've got a taste for old performance cars this bizarre situation is the norm for me.... Plus so is this bit; flogging the car at a big loss as I fancy something else!
Just £600 takes it away!
MOT - October 26th, 2012
Tax - March 31st, 2012
You won't find another manual one of these at this price that's had so much spent on it in the past year!
It's had tons over the past year, I'm not one for keeping track or storing receipts but here's what I remember....
No oil leaks! T5s are bad for leaks and I paid to have a good few sorted on this.
Rear calipers, discs and pads renewed.
Front discs and EBC Yellowstuff pads
Rica Remapped ECU - dyno print out for 250BHP/300lbft
Uprated oil breather
I had a towbar and electrics fitted (cost £200)
All 3 engine mounts replaced with OE Volvo parts
New drive belt
New plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm
G-Max -40mm springs
Limo tint or rear windows, legal light smoke on the front (look patchy in the pictures, but just wet and totally fine in real life)
Various bushes, both wishbones etc have been replaced.
4 wheel alignment.
UK spec legal pressed plates
PAS pump replaced.
2 large boost hoses renewed.
Various vacuum hoses (one which required the inlet manifold to be removed and 3 hours garage labour!).
Excellent 215/45-17 matching tyres (recent).
Boost pipe has been modified to accept an atmospheric dump valve, and a Forge blanking plate has been fitted to remove the original recirculating valve. Currently running no valve, but I can supply a dump valve for free if you want one.
As standard you get insanely comfy heated leather seats
Quality stereo system with 6 disc CD changer
Climate control
4 x Electric windows and electric heated mirrors
Very strong 5 speed manual box with a good clutch.
Totally solid rust free Volvo shell!
Issues:
BBS C70 split rims, but one lost a few bolts. So as not to take any chances I swapped this for another C70 alloy of identical size and offset. I can supply the faulty wheel as well.
Sometimes stutters on full boost under heavy load. I suspect the ignition coil as the culprit, as it's the most likely part of the ignition system I haven't replaced. Drive normally though and you'd never experience this.
Rear wiper motor got slower and slower until it stopped working. (Easily and cheaply fixed).
I had a bump in the car early last year.... The wing was badly damaged (then replaced), plus the door has some cosmetic damage too. I sticker-bombed the wing instead of getting it painted. I like it, some won't! All damage was cosmetic, nothing either structural or suspension wise was touched.
This and he odd wheels are pretty much the reason why I'm selling the car half price!
