i had an 820 Vitesse Sport Turbo as my third car 11yrs ago and hampered after a 420 GSiT ever since. I currently have a BMW 335d, but with the weather setting in i thought id lock the 335 up and have a winter hack, and i come across the 420. Its one owner, 68k and completely bog standard. Issues we found for a blown exhaust, and a faulty clutch. It works, but the biting point is on the floor, and you cant change gear with the engine running. So heres some pics.... The day of collection: Back home: And up the wokshop it went to remove the old exhaust: And fit the new one: Dean doing my clutch: Box out: No box: All in and done and driving fine. Also noted it had a new clutch cable, new brakes all round, new hoses, etc so not a bad car TBH. All MOTd now as well Debating whether to sell it as ive just acquired a donor for my Polo VR6 conversion.

I had the joy of driving one of these about 12 years ago now, I still remember it well as it was one of the only cars that I've driven that's felt to powerful for it own good!, as soon as the turbo kicked in it would torque steer you into the nearest ditch!
Mind you they are a real weapon and a proper Q car.

Uber-rare example of the R8, I seem to recall they were big bucks when new. As Trig says, slightly over-engined. That is, of course, a good thing.
Good find.

I looked into buying a silver 420Gsi Turbo Sport with the factory bodykit about ten years ago. It went like sugar off a shovel; a real Q car as most 400's were driven by flat-cappers at 35.675mph everywhere. We scared the curse word out of an Impreza on the A143 coming back from Harleston to Beccles along the bypass. 197Bhp in a car that light was ruuuddee! ;D Insurance killed that idea, though.

Nice, I think the estate is one of the best lloking estates ever made. All the same, I really like the saloons and this looks like a really good one! Nice save

Amazing bit of kit. I used to have a haggared old 420GSi in the same shape and that was fast (well, it was until I involuntarily flung it over a hump-back and removed the engine from its mounts after landing).
These turbo cars can have some serious power extracted from them for notalotofcash, too.
Going to keep watching this!

I was previously unaware of these cars. Now I am in awe. Wow.
Is that a subtle bonnet bulge I notice? Epic!

I was previously unaware of these cars. Now I am in awe. Wow. You were supposed to be unaware they existed - that was the marketing concept. Don't think it quite worked somehow, another 'Rover-up'... Even in the heavier 800 Vitesse I had, that engine provided great performance. Think you'll have a lot of fun with this!
