I want a siren.
I don't know why but I do.
When the high speed wind tunnel goes off at the far side of work they set one off and I always thing it'll make an excellent doorbell...

I don't know how widespread this is, but at Harrys new Health and Safty rules state you are no longer allowed to raise a car to remove the wheel, you now have to go and get a member of staff to bring a jack so they can raise the car put the wheel underneath and take the jack back!!! WTF?? They do have some nice steel frames they can forklift the car onto if you want to removes gearboxes etc which is a good idea I'm not mega experienced with scrappies but I'd say that's standard practice now. I'm not even aware of any round here that aren't on a sort of poured concrete or asphalt surface. I'm sure it contributes to higher prices and maybe takes some of the enjoyment out of it for some people but it does make it easier as long as the yard guys don't make you hang around all day for fork lifts.

I can never understand how one scrappy is 'made to' make a concrete base and then the next one down the street is still a swamp next to a river which all the oil etc from the cars is free to run into(my local).

Walking round scrap yards will be made a thing of the past no doubt More than likely, my local one now insists you wear a hi viz vest and taking parts off the car yourself is long gone too. Shame really. Back to the thread, looks like an interesting yard..........He could make a few quid on those sirens on here by the look of it. ;D
