I keep looking at the Universal Salvage auctions and see some pretty interesting stuff. Has anyone here successfully registered to bid who is not a vehicle breaker by trade? Any info appreciated.

Yeah, I just phoned them up and pestered.
My reasoning was that if they want it to be a closed 'trade-only' auction, why are they promoting it in all the classic car mags.
Had to give them loads of details etc (i.e slightly more than you'd need to get a passport, slightly less than you need to join 'Blockbusters'...)

the reason they want to be trade only is they can be heavily fined for selling a cat A or B car to a member of the public, someone without a breakers licence. This goes for a lot of online auctions where they can't check your details personally, which is why you'd need to ring up and they do the spanish inquisition.
