And V12s sounds sooooooo nice. They're one of my favourite number of cylinders and I'd love to squeeze a V12 into a Riley RME.

expensive parts, harder to tune and maintain, size, etc.
How is that Morris going to handle? look how far forward the motor has to sit...
Damn cool when done but there is a reason a whole bunch of Jags got theirs whipped out and V8s put in their place...

I also wondered that about the Minor, unless he's got 200kg of ballast in the boot it looks like it'd endo everytime you braked hard.

saw that Rangie yesterday, SOOOO MUCH WANT!!!
as my brother said, probably the only way to make one even less economical but still.
Doesn't help its a early 4-door!
That said the 3.5 Rover V8 is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE engine!

I quite like this one: A bit like that Golf bodied 928, don't think there's actually much Volga left in it.

Just googling weights....
Jag 5.3 V12 weighs : 680 lbs.
Chevy SB V8 weighs roughly : 575lbs.
Chevy weight is obviously dependant on whether or not antismog curse word is fitted, Along with air con and so on...
Not a huge difference realy....
The obvious choice would be the RV8 at 318lbs

Erm "not much in it" 105 lbs! Thats a frig of a lot of weight. Its like having a fairly big bloke sat on your bonnet. Plus you can save like 100lbs easy on a small block Chevy by using alloy heads, intake and tubular headers.... The Jag is like 20% heavier than the Chevy, thats an appreciable amount.
Plus the length of the Jag engine proportionally puts more weight further forward - the more the weight is ahead of the axle line the worse the effect of it.
Plus the SBC is the heaviest small block. Compare it to a alloy headed small block Ford and the Jag engine is going to be close on 50% increase on the weight. Certainly compared to an LS1 or similar.
The Jag engine is 170% the weight of an LS1...
And again, you can probably buy a small block Ford or Chevy engine and a rebuild kit and a nice lunch for the price of basic overhaul of a Jag motor...

meh, sometimes you've just got to have a car for the soundtrack... my cav will never handle excellently with a straight six CIH in it... but it does sound abso-friggin-lutely fantastic and is perfectly driveable and safe as road-going car. If I want to get round corners really really quickly (which is probably not safe on public roads anyway!) then I have a 106 rallye for that

If you overlook the sensible reasons for not using it then just the noise alone is a more than perfect excuse to use one. Heard one in a Vanwall-esque kit car once with straight pipes and nearly ruined my trousers!

Seems like a good enough reason to attach it to a Renault or Audi transaxle and mid mount it

Oh yeah, the noise and the WTF value are good reasons to do it.
In my excitement I wax mixing up kg and lb there but being a big block enthusiast I'm not going to bleat about weight that much
Yeah back in the day I saw a few custom pickups and the like with a mid mount jag v12
I always fancied a t bucket with a v12 jag in it
