I've had my 1990 Audi 90 2.3 20v up for sale a while now, loads of interest but no-one with the cash. My reason for selling it is to buy a car I want, I bought the Audi because it was the car I needed at the time, but now I don't need the rear seats or towing ability and I miss having a Porsche in my life.
So I'm really looking for someone with a 924 or 944 (or 924s/turbo) that runs with MOT and tax. Don't mind if it needs a little TLC I've had a lot of 924/44 series cars so know the cars inside out. Obviously if it's a 2.0 and it's a mess I won't be looking to do a straight swap as the Audi is worth more, but a tidy 2.0 would be fine, or an S/Turbo/944 that needs tlc.
So what does the Audi do? Well it's the 170BHP engine from the factory, now producing circa 190BHP, I have loads of spares I can sell with the car and the oil gets changed regularly (advantages of free oil). The car has all the sports bits of Bilstein lowered suspension, big brakes, forged wishbones etc. Full leather, factory sports steering wheel, hollow alloy spoiler, speedline wheels, triple gauges, trip computer, ambient temp gauge, air con, electrics all round. 6 months MOT and Tax.
It's huge fun to drive, to be honest it is a better drive than a 924/44, the gearbox is exactly the same but due to not being slung on the back of a contorted gear linkage is smooth as silk, the handling is fantastic, great turn in and sticks like nothing I've ever driven and the engine is gorgeous, loads of low down torque but revs up freely and pulls like a train, to try to describe the revviness of the engine it is very similar to a type r engine but it's got lots of low down torque too.
These feel very similar to the Porsches in build quality, very solid and well put together and a lot of the parts are the same, very strong family feel. This particular model was the S car of it's day, it came out before the S2 and well before the S saloon cars, yet it's very much that sort of car, it was the flagship 90 model and it shows.
I am slightly amenable to other cars, but it has to be RWD and coupe/sports car shaped, with the sole exception of a decent saab carlsson, a similar car that is an itch I need to scratch!
So do any Porsche owners need a 4 door Porsche? (because that's about what it is).
