I need your guys knowledge. I need to find the perfect wheel. I have decided that my choice of wheel, as decided 7 years ago is not quite right for the car, on 2 counts. 1, the wheels are just too large. 16" Diameter I think are a little odds with the cars size, also, I want to reduce the rolling circumference to help offset the high gearing and diff. 2, the wheel and tyre combo is also too heavy, and the 8.5" wheel width on the front causes some tramlining. So, I am looking for a new wheel. 15". 4 x100 PCD. As light as possible. Ideally with a choice of offset and width for different front and rear. I need a max of ET 0 on the rears to fill those arches. Problem is, I only really have knowledge of wheels from the UK market, and reckon there is stuff out there that I may be missing. I think the car can also pull off a bolder design than the Minilite style split rims it currently wears. Any suggestions? I do have a 1 wheel shortlist but keeping that to myself at the moment.

biggest question will be budget. if money is no object id just get image to make me something generally awesome in the 100% perfect fitment/width/offset.
but for most people, its gunna be down to what you can find/afford.

to me it looks like a little chunky Etype at that angle. I don't know what they are like for weight, or what sizes they come in, but id like to see that on some modern deep dish wires.

Mini one steels banded to suit. I could see that being a good look with the wheels basic but special and the bodywork doing the talking.

Funny you guys say Image, the current wheels are Image and they're range is about the one I know best. I just got the wrong ones made originally I guess.

My initial thought was Halibrands. So I'd say the CHB Classics Dez posted are just about spot-on.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Halibrands or some Cragar It may not come in the PCD you want. However it may look bad ace on some aftermarket wheels for a Toyota AE86.

I'm wondering if there might be some cool period European split rims that are appropriate. The sort you'd expect to see at an old Berg cup type event. I'm also glad we're talking about wheel choice on this car and not other things

You could cheekily stencil 'Dunlop' onto them and fit a set of dummy knock-off spinners.

I would go with banded steels with fins on like this: It would look really period and as hard as nails on the Rochdale! Rysz.

Cool, thanks for the ideas guys. I must admit, I really like the look of the banded steels, and those Image wheels that look like the Campagnolos made for classic Alfas.

I love banded steels, but they are heavy in comparison to alloys. How about some compomotive ML's?

I love banded steels, but they are heavy in comparison to alloys. How about some compomotive ML's? My understanding from reading volumes of the interwebs is that Compomotive ML's are actually *very* heavy! I considered them for the datsun but discounted them due to the weight. Given the OP's want of lighter weight wheels, I'd go with the Dunlop-esque banded steels, wheel for wheel, I'm willing to bet they're lighter than what he has on there now.
