Mainly after having seen the thread for cars you wouldn't normally associate with being cool, it might be an idea to have a look at the other side of the spectrum. Cars that should be cool but due to whatever reason, just aren't. These that I've *carefully* selected fail thanks to there owners eye for detail. My all time favourite, Poor viva.

Which is why I was specifically thinking cars that should be cool, I.e. Mk1/2 escorts chevettes mg b etc etc not run of the mil late 90s corsas civics saxos as you'd find on Barry boys.

Plenty of cool Novas, 240s and Vivas have been on RR over the years. Lots built and owned by RR'ers too.
I don't quite understand the thread.

The possibility of viewing the thread as "negative" is being far outweighed by the negative comment pertaining to the creation of said thread............................ Hey, how about turning things around slightly by being jolly hockeysticks positive. Example, the blue Nova, yep, we would all agree it looks wibblepoo but are not allowed to say so, however, If its suggested that the arches could be a bit wider to barely cover some banded steels, perhaps remove 99% of the bodykit but have a very discreet spoler on the boot THAT would be positive, right? Never mind, it'll get locked...

I understand the thread...the cars are COOL CARS..... but the mods done to them have made them UNCOOL. Not barryboys at all, as I don't think saxos, 106's, clios, mk6 escorts, etc aren't cool to begin with...

With such negative responses, it just goes to show why there are so many lurkers and not so many posters,

There is no such thing as "Barry boys" I could find you a few thousand people that disagree... Quite possibly, many barely out of short trousers who have to stick labels on everything to understand the semantics of what makes things work...or doesnt. There is no more Barry boy than Retro Ride or any other form of modifying cars because modifying is modifying irrespective of how you do it or what you do, right? Its just a nice name to put into a nice box. Funny really, years back you had all sorts of modified cars rubbing shoulders with eachother, the good the great and the bloody awful, nobody cared. We now have a generation where you have to wear the "right" trainers and have the car modified "right" Sad times.

Er... no, you've misunderstood. You're aware that there's a forum called BarryBoys, right?

You do make an interesting point, but you've probably walked into the wrong gin joint to make people see it. You also seem to be pushing two different points; one about good cars modified to dubious tastes, another about how the scene has become heavily pigeonholed. Clarity and definition is your friend.

A thread about cars you don't like. Not really in the spirit of the forum really.
Better surely to make a thread about what you do like.

Yet again a bad thread has to be saved by a cool car, whereas the thread should of had cool cars to start with
