Morning all! As you may know my Merc is for sale and I've had quite a bit of interest. One of the interested parties is a guy who lives in Holland (he's English and is a friend of a friend). He wants to buy the car and register it in Holland. Has anybody sold a car abroad and apart from filling in the 'Car has been exported' section of the V5 is there anything else I should do over and above the normal selling procedures? Thanks for any tips etc Have some Dutch (or Dutch built) motors as a thankyou... cheers Levi

hello mate.. all you do is fill in the export part on the v5 and send it to the dvla along with a note with the buyers name and address on it.. you give the buyer the rest as they will need it to re register the car.. the dvla will then write back to you in the usuall way to say you are no longer the registered keeper.. i've sold a lot of landrovers to a friend in germany and never had any problems. cheers ian.

You need to apply to DVLA for an export certificate BEFORE you send the V5 off marked as permanently exported. The export certificate is needed by the buyer for registering in Holland as the tear off slip doesn't give sufficent information. The Dutch authorities are quite strict (worse than DVLA ?) and without a certificate could be a nightmare for buyer to legally register.

This what you used to have to do with the old V5 Looking at the new V5C it's as IANC say - fill in the part 11slip and return to DVLA with the rest of the V5C going to buyer. Sorry to mislead but it's a whils since I send a vehicle abroad and aren't up to date with the rules. Paul H

My G-Wagen went to Holland beginning of this year, easy as pie, DVLA told me to give the new keeper all the paperwork to make it easier for him to register it and were happy with a letter from me with the sale date and all the buyers details.
