Worth in the order of thousands...............................unless of course you want to sell it to me I agree strongly with that. Worth lots and lots of pennies indeed.. I recognise the shape of the side profile, but i cant think of the name of the class of engine. I'm no train buff, but my dad was, so its rubbed off a little. Ill find out what I can.

Somewhere between £500 to £1000, this would depend on the condition on closer insection. If it had a the boiler and steam certificate, then the price would increase to upto £5000

try to keep it in the family, heirlooms are a dying thing (no pun intended), it would be great to pull together as much as you can about your great great grandfather, and stick it in a nice album.
edit: just re-read and realised you may be askign for value for insurance purposes, not sale!
ps, that is great!

Thankyou very much guys! i don't think i will be selling it, was just curious to know more about it. Jjp666 thanks for the picture, i remember looking aaages ago for a picture or anything about it but couldn't. I don't think it runs, actually I'm certain it doesn't run because the boiler isn't upto standards. So yeah, it will stay on the side in my room

Nothing to add but - that is the coolest heirloom I've ever seen........ stunning work. Glad you're keeping it. Any idea on getting the boiler working/repaired - or would that mean destroying the original ting? Fantastic just to look at in any case......

Theres a couple of his collection, the bottom one has just been completed, made from a kit of parts. Theres another couple in his workshop somewhere. Also has a box full of materials and a long list of machining to make one complete from scratch using a lathe and a mill.
