As above really. The OH has just bought a new car and to cover her old car whilst we sell it I thought I would SORN my car and put hers on my insurance. My car currently has about 6 months MOT left, so do I need to re-MOT or not? There is nothing on the DVLA web site and ringing sends you in circles! HELP!

Sorn relates to tax -not MOT.Your MOT remains valid until the expiry date on the certificate.

MOT and SORN are 2 completely seperate things, no re-mot needed until current one expires.

As said, putting it on SORN doesn't cancel the MOT. Unless the MOT has run out during the SORN period there's no need to re-MOT it  |

Thanks guys much appreciated! This mandatory SORNing of an in-insured car has been quite a faff as before this I would of dropped the car off at my folks farm waiting for a new owner and test drove it on their land.
