Ok well as much as I really, really don't want to do it my Ford Capri is up for sale. It's an LS model, rolled off the production line with a 1.6 but has since had a two litre and 5 speed box from a Sierra dropped in instead. The previous owner retained the 1.6's lower ratio diff (which has also been welded) and fitted a quick rack, so it's suprisingly good at sliding despite its modest power. Having said that it hasn't been to any drift days and the clutch doesn't slip at all, so far from a shonky drifted shed.
I bought the car in Febuary of this year in Brighton and drove it up to Cardiff. It didn't miss a beat and was totally reliable up until June when the head gasket went. I've since fixed this and also fitted Solex twin 40's for a little bit more power and a lot more noise! Other than these, the Ashley exhaust system and 14x7 Weller wheels it's standard. (I've still got the original LS wheels if you want) The car's paintwork isn't in the best of states but it doesn't flatter to decive - the odd rust spots here and there are clear to see and it's fundamentally a solid car.
The only reason I'm selling is a change in cirumstances. I don't live in South Wales anymore and can't use the Capri (or any Ford unfortunately) for work, so the car just doesn't get used enough. It failed an MOT on 3 bits of corrosion on the sills (now repaired) , plus a previous repair to the left-rear wheelarch which, despite being filled and sanded by the previous owner consituted a failure as it's within a foot of the suspension. The quick rack fouled the crossmember and although I've since moved it for an inch more clearance, it was still picked out as an issue in the retest. Finally the split pin in the passenger TCA has sheered off and I haven't been able to drill it out, so it'll probably mean a new TCA. That little lot makes it sounds worse than it is; the welding to the sills has been done so it's only annoying niggly bits left now. Living away from where the car is kept means that I can't get back to fix them.
So to sum up it isn't in bad shape at all rot wise, needs a little attention to get another 12 months MOT but won't be a problem for someone with more time than me. Other common Capri rot spots are fine; wings, arches and strut tops are in very good condition. It pulls strongly in all gears and the quick racks makes it suprisingly useable on a day-to-day basis. As I said, selling up is something I really didn't want to do, but needs must.
I'll try to get some close ups of the repaired sills and the wheelarch still needing repairing to soon.
