I'm gutted to be doing this but I'm out of money, space and time. I bought this as a 70% restored car, just needing bits putting back on and an mot sorting out. My plan was to have it ready for the week before classic ford so I could make sure it was ok to drive it the couple of hundred miles to and from santa pod. As with a lot of plans I didnt quite make it. It was all up and running but a leaking water pump on mot day meant I couldnt take it in. I havnt had any spare money since to finish it so thought id put it up for sale how it is.
The guy I got it off bought it about 15 years ago from the person who restored it. He then left it in one of his workshops just as he got it. He planned on finishing it, but never got round to it, (sound familiar). Ive been told its quite rare as its a very early mk3, with its original features.
It has had pretty much a full body/chassis restoration and respray. Looks like new front wings and other panels have been replaced. As this was done more than 15 years ago, I presume that the panels were genuine. All suspension parts look new or refurbed as well. I got nearly all the bits to finish it but it does need some bits and pieces. The carpet needs fitting properly and theres no door cards, also rear section of headlining needs repairing. There are also a couple of bits that need looking at that have happened in storage over the years.
I have had it running on the original zenith carb and sounded fine. Ive since relaced the zenith carb with a 32 ich weber with k+n filter. As the water pump has packed up I havnt had it running like this. Should be fine though, maybe a bit of setting up. I have still got the zenith so could put that back if needed.
Ive been looking for a water pump and have found a place locally that sells reconditioned ones for £75.
With the water pump done and moted this will make an exellent motor, I just wish I could get it done myself.
I'm just looking to get some of my money back from buying it and all the little bits and pieces that have added up over the months. Would like £1500 ideally, but would consider a part/ex with something taxed and tested and money my way.
I can be contacted on here or call me on 07736 226616.
Cheers, dave.
