MOT: 29th April 2012
Location: High Wycombe
Price: 2500
Additional Information:
Mercedes 190e 2.3 16v 'Cosworth' - manual with dogleg gearbox.
Owned since Jan 2010, unfortunately it needs to go due to an impending house move. I will only have one car and my wife can't get on with the dogleg unfortunately. To be honest the car doesn't get as much use as it should anyway, it only did 1700 miles between the last two MOTs.
In my ownership I have replaced:
2x rear springs - only done in Jan so less than 500 miles old, if that! Look to me like they might well need to settle somewhat still though, back looks a little high.
1x rear hydropneumatic rear suspension strut - these aren't like dampers and don't wear out, just the bushes on one were knackered
Exhaust centre section
Discs and pads all round
4x Avon ZV5 tyres
Fan switch
Thermostat and housing
Temp sensor/fuel temp sensor
Boot seal
It was serviced by a main BMW dealer before I bought the car and at the last MOT in April I also replaced the oil, filter, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor arm. I also bought new HT leads but I've not put these on as the ones on the car look to be in good condition. I will include with the sale though. In addition to this I also have some rear suspension arms which I was intending to do at some point, as well as a genuine Mercedes timing chain. I've not been able to do these but will also include with the sale.
In May 2010 a local bodyshop replaced the rear wings as they were looking bubbly, these are now totally solid. I suspect the front wings have also been replaced as they too are immaculate, very rare on any German car from this era!
Interior is typical of the era - not especially bright but well screwed together! Electric windows work, as does sunroof (though it's slide only and not tilt). Electric mirrors don't work, central locking is all good.
The car is not immaculate - mint ones of these are going for a whole lot more than I'm asking! There's a knock from the rear occasionally over bumpy surfaces, I don't know whether this is something like subframe bushes or just the exhaust knocking - I'll get out at the weekend and try to check this.
The bonnet and roof have also had some paint at some point, it's not the greatest match in the world.
Please don't think that this car is a shed, it's not. The few miles I do in it tend to be to work up the M40 and it's more than happy belting along at whatever cruising speed you prefer. I'd certainly have no qualms about doing long journeys on it and, if it wasn't for the house move, I'd not be selling it (hence having paid for 12 months tax on it in April!)
I've priced the car at £2800 on Pistonheads, I'd listen to offers around £2500 however. I'm more than happy to provide further details or pictures on request, please just ask.
