I was just scanning through some of my photo's and I found one that I looked at for that little bit longer than than the rest, mainly becuase it was one of those 'moments' when you stand back and just look..you know when you get that 'f#ck yeah i've done it feeling'... Well here's my recent 'moment'.... Basically had the task of fitting the fresh v8 and gearbox into my MGB on my own (usually a fiddly task with two people), took most of the morning and comprised of jacking the MG up and down and using the engine crane in various positions as it is such a tight fit it's untrue but once it was done with the added bonus of not damaging anything....i had a 'moment' Whats your latest retro moment? Moment = A specific point in time, especially the present time: A particular period of importance, influence, or significance in a series of events or developments

I had a similar one welding the Polo recently. I've done a lot of interesting body mods, most requiring me to make up complex double curved panels from scratch. I'd left all the welds unground, and as I started grinding a certain bit I slowly realised that the swage line i'd continued between 2 panels was in perfect alignment/angle/couldn't see the weld. Had a bit of a Mr Proud moment, as the panel will require only a tiny skim of filler rather than a load of shaping like I was expecting.

this: when you make a car purely for your own taste and other people like it just as much as you do, feels good.

Mine was when i went for a carefull spin after fitting upgraded suspension and brakes, ended up using a qtr of a tank of fuel, and braking from serious speeds without fade or fuss, grinning from ear to ear, (shortly after all joy was hamperd by desire for more power)

I think it has to be getting the engine from non-running to this (clicky video). Having never before attempted to do points, timing or removal and refitting of the distributor. Good to have a point of reference really, since the head gasket blew recently so the engine is running like a bag of nails now.

I'm becoming very covetous of other people's caves, especially ones like that with a nice tidy tool rack.

When I found this picture online, I was utterly chuffed. First show, clutch was knackered, there was bits of it still in primer, the suspension hadn't settled so the tops of the front wheels were sticking out a lot and I was getting bitched at by the Ford boys for parking in between them. Happy days.
