1986 BMW 528i SE (E28)
12 months MOT, but no tax.
(just finished returning it to the road: I am trying to sell it and the new law on tax/insurance/sorn is working against me)
4 speed automatic
cream cloth interior
137k miles on the clock
3 owners from new including myself, the last since 1991
Large history file and most old MOT's
15” BBS Alloy wheels from an E34 5 series, all in fair condition with plenty of tread in the tyres
The good points:
Bronzitbeige metallic in colour (the pick of the lot )
All working electrics including instrument cluster, prone to faults on the E28
New brake fluid and handbrake shoes
New OSF balljoint
New water pump
New front-rear brake pipes and rear flexi-hoses
Good chrome bumpers (very prone to rot on these cars)
Sills and jacking points recently repaired (all undersealed now)
Full boot toolkit
Large specification including:
Central locking
Front foglamps
Front armrests
Trip computer and check control
Cruise control
ABS
CD player (modern unit although I do have a period Blaupunkt Bristol unit sat on a shelf)
Electric windows (all four), mirrors, and sunroof
Factory Tow bar and electrics
Rear parcel shelf sunblind
Heated washer jets
Brown tint glass all round
Aforementioned BBS Alloys
The the not-so-good points
>Sunroof: Panel has rust bubbles, common on these cars, although does not leak. Interior trim panel is missing, and will need re fitting.
>I repaired a gash in the OSF wing, and the colour match is only good from ten paces
>Drivers seat squab has two small rips, although both squab and backrest side-bolsters are good. I have a front pair of electrically-adjustable black leather thrones from an E34 5 series that I am happy to fit and wire by negotiation.
>The ABS light comes on at road speeds: One of the ABS wheel sensors will need replacing
>The dashboard has become cracked by sunlight, again, common on these cars
>The lower corner of the NSR valance has at some point been smacked. Not in a noticeable area, and should be all right for some basic welding, sealing and a blow-in.
>OSR wheel arch has begun to bubble under the lip
Car is fitted with a leather rimmed 4-spoke steering wheel from an E34 in very good condition, but I do have an OE three spoke “sports” steering wheel which is slightly more worn. The choice is yours.
Top-condition examples of this model (which, evidently, this isnt quite) are beginning to now beginning to break the £2000 barrier.
Car is located in south oxfordshire (OX14). Viewing welcome any time.
I am available on 07914222899 or 01235 202519 (ask for David)
Thanks for looking
David
