It has come to a point in my life to sell my unfinished bay window project.Due to a change in circumstance & fortune I am regretably selling this to help me financially.I have owned her since August 2006 & had great plans to turn her into my ultimate family van.
Anyway here we go.Registered 15-11-76,fitted with a genuine original 2 litre aircooled T4 engine.The engine is currently removed as I have began a full van resto.The engine was stripped & rebuilt by myself with new gaskets,seals,pistons & barrels,rings,pushrod tubes,engine mounts & a complete ignition system.The cylinder heads have been stripped,valves lapped & leak tested.I have sourced & replaced rusty tinwear from as far as the Usa.I have lots of new parts still to fit which are all boxed with the sale.The fuel tank was overhauled & sprayed with a new sender fitted.Manifolds & carbs are not fitted but supplied in boxes.
The front axle is from Creative Engineering & is narrowed 3 1/2 inches & is fully height adjustable.It has a new steering pin,damper,torsion arms & balljoints,2 new adjustable tie rods with new joints.The hubs are rebuilt with new bearings & seals.The master cylinder & brake servo have been stripped cleaned & rebuilt.I will try & get the rear lowered to match the front before it sells.New brake lines are supplied all round.The rears are original but I have a complete brake kit from Just Kampers to supply with new drums,shoes,cylinders & springs etc.The front needs new disks & calipers but I can supply the old calipers but one is U/s.The wheels are original that have been bead blasted & powder coated white to match the top.There are 4 brand new low profile tyres & new domed hubcaps fitted.
The interior is a blank canvas as most of it was rotten but I have loads of parts supplied.I have a new dash front from Just Kampers & the original dash top,repaired & sprayed.New kick panels & a complete Mdf panel set with all clips & bungs from Just Kampers.I have loosely fitted 2 Range Rover seats for a more comfy ride.Also I have a hinges for a rock & roll bed & plans to make it.I do have the original swing out cooker as I was going to make a new cupboard.I have miles of material & foam to cover the interior as my wife was going to make the panels,curtains & cushions.I have all the original glass but with brand new seals for all windows except the doors.
Bodywork & welding is the biggest job left but after looking at it again I don't think it's that bad.The passenger side is all but complete.I had fitted a genuine front complete arch,seat belt mount,B pillar repair,inner & outer sills,reararch inner & outer repair work,rear corner,outriggers & jacking points & a little repair to the engine seal lip.There is a sliding door repair panel & door skin supplied as well as 90% of all the panels needed to finish the other side of the van including a front panel.There is no rust in the gutter rails.The roof is removed but everything is there to refit but I was in 2 minds as to wether I wanted a lift off roof or a webesto poptop!
I have boxes of parts new & used to get this bus to a near finished state including light lenses,bezzels,eye brow,interior trim,new gear shift linkages etc.
Viewing is absolutlely essential due to the level of work involved but I truly think this bus could be amazing with the right person to finish her off.
love to see her on the road someday.
I have receipts for thousands & loads of parts I bought at shows that I have no way of proving costs but this van owes me over £6000.......................
