Hi all i was just wonderwhat you would do if you had a car or a truck and it was quite rare 250 made only one left that is known to the club but not worth £1000.Some bits have already been changed from original by the last owner like some of the body style.Now if you own it and you only like say half of the style of it would you make it into the car,truck you would like if your not wanting to sell it.But with it being rare but not worth 1000s do you keep it as it is.Thanks all

If it was definitely the very last one of its kind, unless there were people falling over themselves to buy it off me, I'd not feel too guilty about doing anything to it.
If people are that bothered to berate you for doing what you want with your own car, why can't they stump up the cash to "save" it?
Seen it dozens of times before, owners getting slated for "ruining" a rare car, even when if the current owner hadn't taken it and did what they wanted to, it'd be sat rotting in a garage somewhere. At least in some way it can live on.

its yours.. do as you please, maybe someone will look on your modifications one day and comment on how asthetically pleasing they are on the vehicle... end of day no vehicle is expected to stay standard its whole life.. its human nature to personalise things and improve/change on the way they are.. end of day underneath it is still the original vehicle at heart and thats what really matters

Do what you want! If the model is unloved and you think it would make the perfect base for customising into whatever you want, go for it.

I'm just about to start in ernest on my Volvo C202. They're pretty rare in general and virtually non-existant in the UK. Mine is a body type that was never available and was a special order build for the Swedish Forestry......
However, I've already sold off the engine and four wheel drive detritus and taken it off the chassis - which has been cut up and weighed in along with the axles and other redundant parts!
I antagonised over this for quite a while; I've had the truck sat there for a couple of years after saving it from the crusher, but I figured if I hadn't stepped in it would be long gone, so I may as well turn it into something more useable.
To that end, I've just bought a salvage Toyota Dyna pickup and will be building it onto that (a big thanks to Kev ((Aceadvice)) for his help on this subject) and hope to have it back on the road towards the end of the year.
