hi peops..
i am starting my xt600 flattracker/streettracker project soon amongst my other projects..
so firstly...
this is how i got it..
i love xt600's early ones that is..
riden loads and always wanted one.. now ive got one..
got this from a mate..
and other than locking it up in my garden and insuring it ive done nothing with it...
till now...
i decided that as the weather is good and ive missed riding for a good few months i will get on and get this mot'd and ride the damn thing!!
so today i buy a rear light and horn both things its missing..
not the bits that will stay on the bike as first priority is to get it legal and use it..
when i know its reliable i will start the conversion to streetracker..
today i fitted a generic 10 quid rubber mounted rear enduro light and wired it up..
cleaned the plug. checked oil, cut back the ht lead, drained carbs, and fired it up....
sounds good even with old crappy fuel..!
i removed the usty and bent std handlebars and fitted a good second hand set of renthals..
and removed tye battery topped it up and put it on my optimate charger for until i can work on the bike again friday evening..
ok so i havent got any electrics working appart from the rear brake light...
but I'm hopefull..
well ive booked in the mot for sat 12pm.. so hopefully i will get it done ;D
ive got to work tomorrow so next time i can spend some time on it is maybe a few hours friday eve then sat morning before the mot...!!
only have to get then front high and low beam working and the front and rear sidelight.. fit a horn and get it working..
change the silencer. change the rear tyre.. fit the numberplate..
hopefully thats enough for a new mot..
after a few rides and commutes i will start ordering the stuff i need to convert to the bike i want it to be..
si
