Saw this today, it's my spot of the year so far I think. Had to correct chompysnake who thought it was a Triumph TR7 when in fact it's a Fiat X-19. It had a squiggle of letters on the pillar but I couldn't make it out at the time. I don't know many of the retro mid-engined wedges out there, but I'd like to know more. Here's a nice TR7.

Those Fiats can look pretty sweet! Here's a car build for Bergrennen: Did sound very angry. And was very quick too! But lost lots of oil unfortunately... Another mid-engined retro-wedge would be this: Toyota MR2 Mk1

I hate this website. I so nearly bought an x19 a few years back then realised it was a bad idea. Those two look awesome, i'm off to look on ebay! my car searches are getting too long.

Me and the girlfriend were going to buy an X19 this year... Circumstances have changed though so we wont be able to... Which is a shame... One of the few cars we both love...

I drove an X1/9 recently. If you're over 6ft tall, it's basically impossible.

Only the other day I was kicking myself for selling my Mk1 MR2. Had four now and starting to pine for another one! In the meantime, have some mid-engined wedginess from the other end of the spectrum:

jackherer: Yes, just like that, but in black and directly on the pillar rather than on a separate trim piece.

That signature badge should be on the dashboard and nowhere on a car of that age. I used to own one almost exactly like that and have had a few others too. Great fun to drive, cheap to run and far more practical that they look. Mine merrily took my (then) 15 stone 5'11" frame 18,000 miles a year and spent much of its time with the rev counter north of 5K. No matter how I drove it, it did about 30mpg. Only discomfort issue I had was was the window winder pressing into my knee on the first one, which was solved by moving the handle round on its spline. Later cars (post about 1983) all had electric windows, which solves that one. DO IT! Anyway, moar wedge.

Now that Banks Europa! Oh my how much do I want one of those. And you can have one with Chevy V8 powaar having said that the AC 3000 was my dream car when I was a lad. Not as pretty in the flesh sadly.

From the OOOF thread: And a couple more tasty mid-engined wedges... And a front-engined one, but it's so good...

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Wedgier than a wedgie thing: Why oh why did they insist on making these with bumpers and massive springs??
