just wondering if anyone has a link to the uber cheap mp3/usb headunit thread that was on here a few months ago.... I'm wanting a cheap headunit that'll play mp3s be it on cd or memory stick, has a line out and one that doesnt look like a micro barry disco. the only plain looking stereos i can find that do what i want are becker and nakamichi, both of which are more than i want to spend!

Not sure if this is the one, but dealextreme do a few for around £20. Theres no cd, just playback from usb/sd-card. I've not used dx for a while, but delivery was about 10 days for me.

thanks for the replies. think those cheap mp3 units, look a bit, well cheap! think i will keep an eye out on ebay for a 2nd hand sony or kenny deck. not a fan of alpine stereos. my last one was a big dissapointment. certainly not what i had expected from a £200 unit.

Spindle mount or DIN? There was a neat spindle mount one on DX a while ago. Ah, here it is: Spindle mount

I'll let you into a little secret here: Pioneer DEH-77MP Beautiful minimalist looks bordering on retro, nice interface, MP3/WMA, great build quality and amazing sound quality (Burr Brown DAC) You can usually pick them up on eBay for about £80-£100 and you won't find a better unit for the money. I bought mine new in 2003 and really regret not removing it from the Delica when I sold it. Such a great piece of kit both in SQ and looks. Damn, I want another one now!!

They are really nice units. A lot of the better Pioneers around then were very much for the win.

2nd on the P77MP - somebody else decided they liked the way it looked too, and promptly nicked it Can't remember the name of it, but something like 37..somethingsomething, was the upgraded model. The P77MP was ridiculously slow to read CDs, and even slower to read MP3 CDs - audio input needed an extra cable, as it wasn't an aux-in socket on the back, it came as part of a CD changer socket Ridiculously good build quality though, and the white lights look hella good!
