You will have to make your own mind up about how it gets registered, but my honest advice, regardless of how you end up doing it, would be to invest the time and money in taking your C1 test. Not only will you open up the potential for keeping the original plated weight and spec, you’ll be guaranteed to learn something and end up a better driver for it. I’d be looking at keeping the potential for returning it to standard as a priority for my modifications if were doing it, there aren’t that many left and their values are steadily climbing. Whatever; I’ll be following your progress with interest. 100% agree with glenanderson on the C1 idea. It will open up a whole new world of possibilities, and will definitely improve your driving skills. Back when I did mine, for some unknown reason my work place didn’t book us in are local driving school. Oh no, instead they sent us to Swindon. Which meant going round and around the magic roundabout. If you don’t know what that is have a look on google. It’s actually easier to use now as they have put some raised bits in. Back when I did my test it was 7 roundabouts just painted on the ground. So when you first approached it just looked like a vast expanse of tarmac with cars going in random directions, great fun.

Glad to hear you are well now. I have rapid AF, and only found this out after collapsing at home one night. Got put in the back of a ambulance and rushed to A&E. For a while I kept thinking something was not quite right. But did the normal man thing and carried on. So if you think something is not right, get it checked out.

How bad is what’s left? I have a spare Carte gris for a C4... it could happen. It’s actually used for advertisement on top of the office of a local classic scrapyard. I can send you the details if you like. I’d actually like to see what you could do with it. This has to happen, to go from a forgotten ditch find to banger car and then a hot rod. How awesome would that be.

I have to admit I do like them. Especially rare is the turbo version. I think I’m right in thinking that the running gear is based on Mitsubishi bits. Anyway looking forward to you giving this one a sprucing up.

Nice work. Your starting to make me feel guilty that I haven’t done anything to the Austin since the last lockdown. Is the other side of the truck just as bad? Cheers mate 👍. well....as it happens the other side is worse. But I've not started it yet as I've had to deal with a rotten roof, rotten rear window frame, rotten drivers side step and floor pan. That's not to mention that the whole front suspension and cross member has been dropped out of it because of major chassis issues. Watch this space mate.....I've been working on it solidly in every spare moment I've had in the last 6 months....I've just not had the chance to post it all on the thread yet. A lot of work then. Keep going it’ll be worth it in the end.

Is it possible that the half shaft is from a different axle. Maybe a different model of Jaguar, and is a few mm shorter?

I have iridium plugs in my Trabant, and have had no problems over the last year that they been fitted. I went with Denso plugs and used the info on their website to work out which ones I needed.

Nice work as ever. Sorry to hear about your loss. It would be great to catch up with you again. Not so easy to do with the current situation. I have to admit the Austin has taken a back seat for the last few weeks. As we have decided to sell the bungalow. But we are only moving about a 100 yards up the road to a bigger bungalow. Hopefully you have your mojo back and can crack on with Lloyd.

I don’t know if its a daft idea, but you can get boards made out of recycled plastic. And they’re actually quite realistic looking, as well as being surprisingly tough. Wouldn’t have to worry about them rotting out or covering them in oil.

Definitely a Viva. Next door had one rotting away for years out side. Wouldn’t let anyone near it, and eventually it collapsed in on its self.

That’s a hell of a lot work that’s gone into that build. You should be proud of that. I always preferred the mk3 to the mk4.

I also find that having the photos helps in given boost. When you start to think that you’re not getting very far. You can go back through the pictures, and then you actually see just how much you have achieved.
