Interested to hear about the LPG, I have vague ambitions to buy a 4.2 S/C Range Rover (L322) and have heard that it's not a good engine for LPG. It is the same engine isn't it? No. The SC uses the 4.2 found in the S-Type R and XKR. This looks epic. I have been hankering after a X308 'R for a while, but ended up having my head turned by another straight-six. Such hardships...

Rubbish push-button start that intermittently requires more fingering than a... no, stop there. Anyway, I've been meaning to rip it out of the MX5 for the past 6 years.

It's a small world. Funnily enough I know exactly where this is and it's the village we're currently looking to buy in. I can't promise it will be enough to keep you in business, but I do eat a lot of cake.
Best of luck with your endeavors.

A few years ago I never thought I'd be doing this, but another vote here for the SLK. I bought a facelift 320 SLK for Mrs 'fish because it was a nice spec, in good condition and seemed to be going cheaply on eBay. I'd also drunk wine. Also, I've always been fascinated by the folding hard top, which seemed a great piece of design. The key is to adjust your expectations. Think of it as a sports car to rival a Boxster and it's a disappointment, but think of it as a mini-GT and it's utterly superb. The Reinhold roof modules are a great addition - let you lower or raise the roof off the central locking, or with one touch up to 30mph.

Something a bit more unusual: I had a 944 with an odometer that stopped recording mileage at 249k in 2010. It's still going now 7 years later; must be pushing at least 300k by now. Used a bit of oil, but still drove beautifully.

Stuart is an absolute pervert when it comes to vehicle upkeep. This will make a great buy for someone.

Stupendous buy. Having had one of these early last year I can confirm they're indecently quick things as standard. I found mine surprisingly nimble all things considered, and the flickering traction control light when you kick-down around 60mph never fails to amuse...
I was actually battling myself over whether or not to bid on that very eBay auction back in March so it almost ended up in Teesside a few months earlier. Will be sure to kick myself if I see it about.

Minor update of sorts. Having aced its MOT last week with no advisories I thought it was finally time to give the old girl a long overdue polish. It's come up surprisingly well!

Well, it's almost 90s. This certainly is. As a Jag man, it is perhaps surprising that this has so far been my favourite saloon.

Stripping out your MX5 to make the ultimate track 5lag? Then I'd like to buy your interior!
A leaky roof and sitting outside for 6 months in 2015 has meant I'd rather just bin the insides of my Mk1, rather than run the risk of catching an exotic skin irritation from the fungal growth. Anything considered, but would prefer a dark seat and carpet combo - doesn't need to be mint, as it's bound to be an improvement on what I already have.

Fantastic cars, we have an 850 2.5 20v and it is superb. My first Volvo was an S70 with that engine - it's a superb lump.

Do I assume that the budget has been broken now? No, second car so doesn't count! In fact, as this one is a diesel automatic it actually saves me money and therefore releases more spends for the R... That's my maths and I'm sticking to it.

Right, let's give this a shot. I've arranged to buy a bonnet from Tonypandy (apparently that's an actual place and not a bloke) in South Wales, but what with working, having a 4-month-old baby and regularly visiting my infirmed mother, collection is a bit of a bind. I'm up in North Yorks but regularly travel down to Gloucestershire, so a drop off around either of these places or anywhere in between would be absolutely ideal. I also work in Oxfordshire once a fortnight. It's a chunky thing - a bonnet for a Volvo 850, not an old lady...

Used the service once and got lucky, I guess. Hooked me up with a great transport guy who've I've gone to directly numerous times since. Shiply certainly seemed to take a hefty slice for itself.

Good choice of ride I'm curious to see what you will thibk of the T1Rs on the 850; I was thinking of buying a set in 195/55R16 for mine, but wasn't sure how it would handle (last year I've been driving on yokohama advan sport v105's, great tire bit they rub too much in my setup (205/55R16)) What coils would you like to get? Will be following this! Cheers! Having read mixed reviews, I've been pleasantly surprised by the T1Rs. Good traction in the dry, decent in the wet and seems to provide a more compliant ride than the expensive Continentals that were on it before. At 50 quid a corner you can't really go wrong. Not sure on which coilovers yet, but in the spirit of the project they'll probably be cheap...

Well, these have blown the budget wide open - I'm quickly heading towards a four-figure outlay. I had a good poke around while it was up on the lift and was delighted to find that the nivomats have lost their newness. Great justification for ordering coilovers...
