Looking for an approximate price on this, looking at whether to weld the holes and MOT or sell as is. Car thread with pictures here retrorides.proboards.com/thread/149218/dads-2nd-ford-fiesta-mk1Its done 109,000 miles, runs and drives and works well, needs some welding. Tyres are good, very solid other than the holes shown. I'm looking for a price for this both with MOT and without, I sold mine for too cheap a while ago... so looking for an idea of what this is worth. Thanks

Haha I like acquiring vintage/retro car accessories.. Me too , just got this window clip aerial , save drilling holes , just clips on the window when needed and easy to remove when not Maybe something else for you to find ;D I want one... that's exactly the thing my dads looking for he can't bear the thought of drilling a hole in one if his mk1 fiestas. I'm trying to think up some ideas, I want to hide an auxillary speaker somewhere in the car (battery powered) so completely remote, I've heard of people building them into suitcases, but that's quite bulky... I'm thinking tweed hat with a built in speaker... This is a temporary idea until I can find a reasonably priced in car record player

In other news I got my insurance quote back late yesterday, which I'm happy with so just waiting on payday and my day off in June meanwhile I should seal the exhaust join better, sort the slightly crusty sill and empty it of generic "work in progress" junk and give it service

As promised response... I have edited and cut out some sections I felt weren't needed... The taxation class Historic Vehicle applies to any vehicle constructed before 1st January 1973.
If you are in possession of a V5C Registration Certificate showing the date of manufacture or registration as prior to 1st January 1973 and the taxation class showing as Historic Vehicle, you will be able to tax via the website.
If the taxation class is not already shown as Historic Vehicle on the V5C for your vehicle you must apply to a Local Office. The V5C must show a date of manufacture prior to the 01.01.1973. If this is not recorded on the V5C but the vehicle was manufactured prior to this date you will need to produce dating evidence. Acceptable dating evidence can be obtained from a vehicles enthusiasts club or from the manufacturer.
You will need to submit your V5C with an application for a vehicle tax disc V10, Insurance Certificate and MOT Certificate if applicable.
Please note from 18th November 2012, vehicles manufactured before 1st January 1960 are exempt from the requirement to have a mandatory MOT test.
If your vehicle is manufactured before 1st January 1960 you will need to complete a V112 ‘Exemption from MOT Testing’ form.
The decision was announced by the Minister for transport following a Public Consultation in November 2011.
Please note it is the keeper or driver of the vehicle’s responsibility for ensuring the vehicle is in a road worthy condition and safe to be driven on the road.
The keeper will need to write ‘Historic’ in the change to taxation class field in section 7 of the V5C and sign section 8. An exempt tax disc will be issued immediately by the DVLA Local Office and an amended V5C will be received within 6 weeks. More information on the historic vehicles taxation class can be found on information leaflet INF34 Taxing Historic Vehicles.

DVLASo basically I need to get some insurance together (beginning of June) as I have a few little bits to sort in between. Then head to the local DVLA office, with V5c, V112 MOT exemption, and apply for a change of taxation group. Simples

Looks like I started something mentioning parking lights I think you did, I probably would have not even looked for one, thanks Haha I like acquiring vintage/retro car accesories... around a week ago, someone gave me a windscreen cleaning kit, in a leather pouch, no idea how old it is... looks a bit 90's tat, but I really like, I'll have to grab a photo when I get a minute. remmoc - parking lights will be the next big thing in the classic car world... ...no? just me?

We use DPD in work, not particularly cheap, think its about £8.00 but they cover quite a large size and weight range, give a one hour time slot for delivery and guarantee next day delivery to most of the UK.
But really depends on size and value

Do you know, I didn't even test if it worked or not, I was going to do that when I converted it for the Polo. I'm glad to see it does work, though really there's very little that can go wrong on it. The little rubber bracket does work really well too, probably more so on the Hillman as it's the sort of car it's designed to work on. I have a vague memory that parking lights were a legal requirement at one point. I think they were a legal requirement for unlit roads. I took it to pieces to check the voltage of the bulb, and gave it a quick once over, everything worked. I had no concerns, as you said really simple... backup plan was to get an LED from one of our many millions boxes of generic haul and put that in there. I'll probably take a walk down to the garage tomorrow just to try it on

Ahhaaaa so somehow these big red vans which delivery mail all over the country managed to get the parcel to me at 10am today, which is quite simply amazing. Anyway got it home, attached it to a box after checking the wires and the bulb rating... Then wired it up to a motorcycle battery (running on about 3.5v... should probably charge it) More than happy Pics on the car another day ;D
