I have no idea what you need to look for, unfortunately, but I was distracted by that little button on the floor. Foot operated washer pump? I've never owned a Minx, but I'd guess that's the headlight dip switch. Pretty much all cars of that era seemed to have them down there. There's great fun to be had stamping around blindly trying to find the dipswitch when it's buried in moth-eaten carpet Thanks for the links seth and angrydicky, I'll call around tomorrow The button on the floor is dipswitch, your right about the carpets, the state of them in this is horrible too, luckily my very helpful girlfriend has cleaned them for me now. Do any of these have a column change looking for the cable. that goes into the gear selector found under the floor.

As promised photos of the issue, I took then inspection cover off... It was obvious very quickly what had gone wrong... Other end looks like this... and the broken piece... Luckily the cable had a good length, so we threaded it through a little more for the time being and tightened the clamp... attempted to drive it and found that the gears still weren't right, although this time is definataly just the adjustment. Any ideas what this bit might be called... and where i could get one? Thanks for reading

It seemed the right place to go on a warm afternoon I have another video I'll post later I'm managed to take another look last night and have concluded that ita probably not the clutch (although its probably on its way out) with help from a friend when moving the gear lever the linkage under the bonnet is catching on something (possibly steering box?) it was quite dark, but will take a better look one evening this week. Been watching this resurection with interest. Great to see it finally hit the road again. Would be worth checking over the clutch hydraulics before pulling gearbox/engine out in case that is the issue. Just look underneath to see if the release arm is moving a reasonable amount as someone else presses the pedal. If you do need to change the clutch then an alignment tool only needs to be a shaft that fits into the crank spigot with a larger diameter section that matches the hole in the clutch plate. I've always successfully done it by eye but you can wrap tape round a smaller shaft to get the right diameters. Just tighten the clutch cover enough to allow the friction to keep the plate in place while you centralise it. Then tighten the cover bolts fully, each one a bit at a time to keep it even all round. Thanks Seth, definitely a good point, Ive taken a look and think that it is in working order, I'm not sure how much it should move so took a video... quite possibly my most random video upload... Some good advice on the clutch fitting, I haven't attempted a clutch before but keen to learn Thanks also to jpsmit for suggestions

Afternoon all, an update dissapeared off to dvla in Exeter yesterday along with my v112 (application for mot exemption) insurance and v5, got myself a nil tax disc and proceeded back to get the car It drove well and only had one issue, we took it for a 30mile drive. On return experienced an issue when we were about 1 mile from home, we could only select 1 gear, crawler or emergency first, so proceeded home at 10 - 15mph Some people got annoyed with the speed including 1 car which overtook on double white lines and was then pulled by the unmarked police car that was behind him. So back to the car, judging by the state of the clutch and its extreme biting point, I'm guessing that this is the fault. When attempting to select other gears it sounded like I wasn't using the clutch... Which leads me to beleive that's the issue. Going to get a new one ordered soon otherwise was a very pleasant drive, lots of attention from the general public and a few classic cars I passed on route. Its been almost 2 years since I had "the nod" from a passing enthusiast. All in all very happy with it... But not looking forward to ny first clutch change. Thanks for reading

To pass on advice I've been given repeatedly: Check that there isn't a problem with the earth. There's always a problem with the earth. Excellent advice, I have now found that there is a problem with the earth... although now sorted. Front indicators should earth through the grill, but for some reason it wasn't, so adding wires to an excellent earth and BINGO (i like using that word at the moment) it works Wahooooooo, have a plastic wallet with all the documents in, and an alarm set for early tomorrow, first DVLA office visit Matt

Looks like I will have an even of electrical fault finding, not a favourite game of mine, but one that needs to be done, shouldn't be too bad as there is little wiring. Learning alot from this car

Good Evening all, Thought I would share this event with you all, its a small run from Martock to Haynes Motor Museum, proceeds to a local charity shop. With around 100 cars in the run, would be nice to see some people from Retro Rides attending, I know that myself and Remmoc will be attending. Its on the 7th July this year Vintage/retro costume can be worn, and winner for the best Check out there website at www.retrofundraising.co.uk/or search retro fundraising on Facebook See you there Matt

Bingo, sorted this now thanks to Remmoc, so we checked today, this time with another pair of hands on the multimeter outputs are correct as stated, I didnt think to try the wet and dry between the contacts on the regulator, so once we had done this we had movement, the ignition light went off, and we could see it doing its work, its still getting jammed every now and then and need to adjust it a little just to ensure correct gap ect.
We still have the issue with the lights and indicators, both work individually but when lights are on the indicators don't work. Were going to check the wiring of the indicators as they were removed and reinstalled.
Fingers crossed we get it sorted. I also received a retro fog light today from someone on this forum, will get it wired up and get some photos later.
Feeling alot happier about this now, and with less than a week until my DVLA visit, I think we can solve these issues.
Thanks again to Remmoc for the instructions on polarizing the dynamo and the voltage outputs from the dynamo, very helpful.
