They look like a couple of fun toys Maybe a bit late but for info : Hunter lights are size 4x6, Escort Mk1 etc are 5x7 If buying weird stuff cheap (I think mine are Skoda ?), maybe buy 2 pairs so you have spares if needed.

Tank rubber - put it in a pan of hot water for a few minutes to soften it before fitting, use plenty of lube. Same for the rubber around the petrol filler neck.

"I use 0.6 wire, normally with 0.8 tips." - is this a typo? If not - try 0.6 tips with your 0.6 wire. Is it a standard earth cable & clamp? (I have a Clarke Pro90 - the original earth cable & clamp were feeble !) ask on the helpful migwelding-uk forum ? Mine is fine for car repairs, guess yours should be very happy once you find where the gremlin is hiding... Let us know when you find the problem

a few gentle taps with a hammer to loosen it? penetrating oil overnight? heat? any part of the stud showing on the inside face of the hub - use molegrips? drill and tap undersize - hope the tap winds your snapped stud into the hub and out the other side? ^ or any of the above... punch and hammer? drill it out in stages?

Not a show I've been to but it was recommended to me recently, looks like it will be worth a trip if anyone has some free time. It's organised by the Scottish Rootes Enthusiasts but is open to all. Location is about 40 miles North of Carlisle Info from their website www.sre-scot.co.uk/2017_Moffat_Rally.html
Moffat Classic Car Rally 24th and 25th June 2017
The fun kicks off with a road run (which 300 cars can participate in) to St. Mary's Loch, with the first cars leaving the town centre at midday in 15 minute intervals in groups of 60.
There will be a picnic stop at the Loch and the route will also take in Megget and Talla reservoirs. Motor bikes are a welcome part of the Moffat Classic Car Rally.
The Car Rally has been a fabulous connection with the town of Moffat. It appeals to enthusiasts, the businesses in the town and to the public that visit.
Directions : Leave the M74 motorway at Junction 15 and follow the A701 to Moffat. If travelling from further south, the M6 from Birmingham & Manchester meets the M74 just north of Carlisle.Life is a bit hectic for me for the next couple of months but I'm planning a trip there if I can.

That looks smart, a pretty neat fit in the space you've got. Just found this thread, maybe too late now but shout if you need a 2nd pair of hands for anything.

^ as above. I got a set of 4 belts to fit a small Peugoet. I couldn't swap front & rear as they were at different angles and always locked up (the internal mechanism is like a big marble in a cup, if you fit the belt at a non standard angle it thinks the car has rolled over!) Rewebbing might be an option if your mechanism is ok but the webbing is damaged. Or you need to find a car that has belts fitted at the same angle as yours. Have fun

I stand corrected - it was worth asking the question but it sounds like it's not going to be a simple plug-and-play fix

How old is the car (electronic dash or old school) ? The explanations above about the gauge reacting quicker than you want make sense, rather than damp it mechanically I'd experiment with damping the electic signal to the gauge. An "Electrolytic Capacitor" costs pennies, fit one in the tank sender circuit (to earth? across the sender? across the gauge?) and hope for the best (think of it like a storage tank - little ripples in the power signal will take a while to affect the power stored in the tank )

I'd suggest you don't do what I did (results looked smart but soon went shabby), maybe lacquer afterwards or use something else (acrylic??) remove tyres, valves, weights then sandblast Aerosol "wheel silver" from my local shop (not a specific colour code). Finished

^ as above, check for a spark (I normally pull the center "king" lead from the distibutor leave other end attached to the coil, rest the free end near the engine and turn the motor over on the starter - watch for a spark from the lead to the engine block) Does the new ignition need a ballast-coil or non-ballast-coil? ( maybe the coil is fine for points but not for your new setup?) Just a thought ... I try to make 1 change at a time, then it's easier to guess what's stopped it working

I had already been to a local double glazing place earlier on, on my way to Kevin's place and picked up some old windows. A good result! I've had similar from the skip at our local double-glazing place, also found that if you buy a large "pre-owned" bay window on an auction website (ours cost £12 ), you can split it down to get 3 matching windows for your new project, the fake-leaded top windows were a nice bonus "Womble-ing" is a term that gets used a lot around our house Keep up the good work

Hi, apologies if I've missed the obvious - if unused original parts don't exist, what are you going to use as a pattern to scan? Not something I've been involved with but given the variety of parts available, would it be easier to buy something "meaty" and have it trimmed down to the size you need? Top marks for experimenting with new ideas!

^ ChasR - I should have explained, all milages are from the trip meter. All tours started with a a brimmed fuel tank and zero'd trip miles, to make the MPG calculations easy. Info updated as you suggested (see the grey columns), column "stage" is mileage between fillups, this with gallons gives the MPG. The column on the right is the bit I can't believe, it shows MPG for each tankful and varies massively (even ignoring the "special" 84mpg figure) Calculation is column "stage" / "gallons" = "mpg" The suggestions are all appreciated, I know I've done something daft I just can't see what it is
