Make sure you have a legal number plate for MOT time. Nothing more frustrating than to have a fail on something so petty but those are the rules - reflective only for your year bike. Also strictly is should be as vertical as possible so that is another area where a potential MOT fail. MOT testers manual section - www.motuk.co.uk/manual_630.htmBTW it's also a reason for Police to pull you if they are in the mood. Paul h Thanks for the heads up. It went for its MOT with the original plate on. Funnily enough, i got pulled over because the police thought my brake light didnt work (It did, i was engine braking) and they tried to kick up a fuss about the plate. They actually told me that the size and colour was fine (not true) but tried to get me on the angle. I just told them it was the original bracket and they went quiet. They also tried telling me that it was a legal requirement for my year of bike to have indicators and two brake light switches, but i ended up having to read their own book to them. I think i'll make a new brakcet to get the plate at a more acceptable angle for when i come accross someone more clued-up

Thanks very much for the offer but i don't think they'd suit my car very well as its a 1990 polo.
Nice set of wheel though and good luck selling them.

Replied to your thread on Clubpolo but incase anyone else reads this... I just did mine actually, Undo the cam bolts evenly, bit by bit, to avoid cracking the caps. When the cam is out you can press down on the hydraulic tappets and see if any are stuck. Tjey should squidge down and back up, but some might be stuck solid. To to get the valves out you'll need this Keep all the valves, collets, springs and caps together as each valve and its associated parts bed in to each other. You'll have to get the valve stem seals off too, i just used pliers but be gentle

Thanks fellas The carb was a pwk28 replica, ran like sh*t because the vacuum from the cylinder would hold the slide open when i let off. Using a mikuni vm26 now, its great. thanks for that ...i have a 250 twin with knackered carbs ,,,clened them through but still rough running i'm thinking a pair of VM26's to get it sorted as they are quite cheap they're a pretty good carb tbh, the Molkt replicas arent too bad either at £25 quid each!

Posting on behalf of a mate; 1983 Mk1 GTI in white, 174k miles. Very nice original car, with loads if history (dating back to 1997). It's still on the original GTI wheels with good tyres, and has very solid bodywork with recent work to the sunroof apature done to a very high standard (so theres none of the usual gti rust). The spare wheel well has also been repaired, and a new fuse box fitted. Mecahanically sound with new oil.and filters, it runs and drives very nicely. It has long MOT and Tax and is ready to drive away. Inbox me on here for further info. The car is located near Colchester, Essex Price dropped to £2995

Thanks fellas I actually rode it for a few months but the other night the stator plate packed up so its all in bits for a 12v conversion and i few other bits. Wish i had some pics, i'll get some up soon. The carb was a pwk28 replica, ran like sh*t because the vacuum from the cylinder would hold the slide open when i let off. Using a mikuni vm26 now, its great.

Its actually a 1.4 golf engine with polo manifold and a weber dtml, its more a case of making it work rathet than originality, which is kinda annoying. All done. I cut the extra pipe off nice and short, loads neater now. Thanks again
