Lovely van, presume as you have sourced the light and radio it’s going back to police spec? Very cool if so That's the plan going to put it back police spec It already has a mgb rear axle 50/50 to fit mgb 1800 engine or mx5 unit Then maybe slam it down Very cool, MGB would be easy, but MX5 would be good. Also a big thumbs up to lowering too

Removing a bumper to replace a bulb seems to be the thing these days. It's terrible, but yet another "what can we do to make ownership a pig?" example of problems that are designed in to a car. I'm so pleased BMW put access hatches in the arches of my Mini R56, which is about the only owner friendly thing they have done. Xenon bulbs have a much higher lifespan so it offsets the work. The halogen units don’t require the bumper to be removed.

You need to post an actual advert following the rules or it’s going to purgatory. No probs Rich 👍 Thanks chap. Pretty unique and funky truck. Would make a brilliant oddball camper. GLWS!

A Minute? No, engine must reach max governed speed only very briefly. It's the acceleration part it monitors, holding the revs for any long period of time shouldn't affect the result as the soot is emitted during the rev-up period. Long and short of it, the car has been tested correctly by you account and you have something wrong, or at best it needs an Italian tune-up to clear out the exhaust, Manual is here for all and sundry to read. I've linked the appropriate page for your query. www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles/8-nuisance#section-8-2-2

I am enjoying your thread and the work you've done... sorry to be pedantic but hopefully you won't mind... trailers have their own unique license plates and don't display the plate from the tractor unit. I know, I know - sorry Not an actual issue, I was suspect that that was the case so I’ll get some replacement ones at some point. That and I can’t have the daycab wearing the same plates as the sleeper.

Having done some specific reading, I suspect if the switch is dropping the side/tail output at a the switch when switched to headlights then there is an internal issue with the switch. I’ve serviced many pieces of switchgear from this period and it’s fairly straightforward stuff. I imagine one end of the sliding contact isn’t connecting properly. Worst case the switch is available as a ‘new’ part although I appreciate with the patina of the car you would want to do your best to keep the original.

White eh? That's more of a wrecker sort of colour. It’s definitely in my mind. I’m still not sure weather I want to build a period stick boom wrecker or a long-chassis heavy haul unit. Will see how I feel as it progresses.

You've transformed that tanker! New one looks like it'll be great too. Will it get repainted in fleet colours? New unit is going a different direction for sure. I’m feeling white but not sure yet. Sneaky preview

Thanks ejenner for the reply - I did read this (and have since applied some of the steps) but as you said MOT time had passed and I'd spat my dummy out by then! 🙁 On the plus side, it now runs! What I perhaps hadn't made clear (and video doesn't appear to have uploaded) is that it had been running, but then promptly failed to started. In hindsight I think it just struggled with cold starts, and my lack of patience It runs rich for sure, partly down to the Cheap fuel pump no doubt. That said, it'll do me for now until I can have it properly tuned. I need to do a compression test too, if I find a model specific guide/video I'll stick it on here for future reference Cheers Rob Unless the fuel pump is so powerful it’s making fuel physically leak into the inlet manifold it can’t make the car run rich
