Thanks guys I use the following process for flattening and polishing if it helps - I block sand the paintwork with 1500 grit wet and dry to get any orange peel or bits out of the paintwork
- Then go over that with 2000 grit DA discs, this removes the wet and dry marks
- Then Machine polish with Farecla G3
- Then Machine polish with Farecla G10
- Then DA polish with Meguires Speed Glaze
- Then wax polish
Its pretty labour intensive, but the results are worth it

None had the light setup that you suggest that I am aware of, I would have thought it would be straight forward enough to do, and would have been a way for TWR to distinguish their cars from the other run of the mill cars of the time
No Autosport show for me, I am sure we can catch up soon, I am in no hurry

I've been reading more and everyone gives the Portamig a good write up, so I think I will go for one of them After too long abreak I ventured back into the garage today, started cleaning up some trims, but also flattened and polished the bootlid and fitted the new badge very satisfying

Just read up about that Jotamastic Primer, sounds good stuff, I guess if its good for ships and oil rigs then its good enough for our old cars
I would be interested to know how it well it goes on and if you can spray 2 pack ontop of it

OB that is certainly some task you have ahead of you
you got me thinking about how I would approach creating these wings from scratch, and here's my thoughts for whats its worth
Regardless of how you actually go about fabricating the sections, whether it be with an english wheel a sandbag or whatever, I would be tempted to create a skeleton framework from some 4 or 5mm mild steel rod, use this to create and tweak the shape until you are happy that the lines flow from the door into the wing etc.
Using the rod to define the shape, wheel archs and swage lines etc, this then gives you have something that you could make templates from, and work your sheet to, I can't decide at this stage whether you would need to weld the rods in as part of the structure, it could add a lot of strength, or just use it as a basis to build upon. I think both ideas could have their merits
Shall be glued to my computer now for your next update
Tony

That looks like a clarke 100en, its got a upgraded earth clamp though anyhow, not worth the cost of fitting a eurotorch, though the origonal torch is carp, usable but carp I upgraded to one of these www.mig-welding.co.uk/shop/portamig-mig-welders.htmstill use the clarke though! what a fantastic car though, very well done! Its a Clarke 150, I agree the torches are not great, would you recommend one of those Portamig welders, I was thinking of treating myself to something nice for Christmas

I think the using of other panels, is really resourceful, at the end of the day the repair will be just as good and it takes less time to fabricate, and it is recycling to, so everyone is a winner Perhaps you should start a thread showing which wings etc offer the most useful patch panels

You might be flying out, but not sure if you will be landing, most of the major airports are having serious problems with the snow again
