Long time with no updates due to moving house which has taken the best part of 6 months to process everything from the old place and rented garages and containers I had for the move. I finally have all my stuff at my house. My new garage is not small but it needs to be bigger which will hopefully happen next year but for the purpose of getting the cars out of the winter weather I managed to get them all in. I had to remove both fiesta bumpers and both mini bumpers to squeeze them in. It is far from ideal but I will cope for a few months. A few weeks ago I got some bits from outlaw motorsport. I can tell the difference so it is money well spent. Also had further alternator issues which resulted in replacing it for a new old stock one I found on eBay listed for a mini. I had to rotate the body as per the faulty one but so far so good. Not been out in it much but managed the gathering. Great day out. Spannering on moderns has taken what little time I have had between house move stuff. How do I fix this this problem? Buy another modern car that needs fixing of course! It should arrive on Saturday.

I remember doing virtually every Mini event on the calendar in the mid-late 90s, when there was a great club vibe and nothing was too expensive. Mini in The Park when held at Cornbury Park in Oxfordshire was excellent, but I eventually got bored and moved on as I was seeing the same cars over and over. I then went to GTi International in about 2005 as I had a Golf GTi. The atmosphere there was absolutely toxic by comparison. If you weren't "Scene" you were not part of things. I've been to a few general car shows since, but I always have an escape plan and I NEVER do over-nighters anymore. Trade stands barely exist anymore (the internet and eBay killed off Autojumble) so now I mainly head to local pub meets. I have a fairly hectic social life anyway, so I can't simply just drop things and go - I have to make sure I plan ahead! I guess if I actually got the Midas finished I might make more of an effort... I was doing every mini show on the calendar from 98 to 2009 and the mini 40 sticks in my head as the best. I don't think I looked round it all in 2 days. My Mrs still has her club t shirt that she got John Cooper to sign. Mini in the park trade and jumble was the reason I went and it would take a year searching round shows to gets the bits you wanted to get the cat just how you wanted it. Happy days.

They don't deserve to get anyone through the door at those prices. To take myself and family with parking and fuel I am looking at £100! I like a show but I can think of much better ways to spend £100.

I have added my name on the list if I am not to late. I have just ordered my tickets and am looking forward to it as I have missed the last 2 due to the show clashing with holidays. Yes mate. Still got room. I've booked a space for 20 cars. Cool. Thanks

Looking good I like your direction and I like a few period mods. The wheels are great I need a set for my S. What is the origin of the rocker cover? I wouldn't mind a Morris one. I am just off to see if I can find that paint stripper you used listed on ebay I think my gt will get done quicker if I use some of that.

I think I remember the conversation and just looked back at my old thread I did for the longman inspired gt I had and it must be you that had user name revvit? The profile pic led me to that. I am still here messing with minis even though I said was out for good when I sold the gt and brown clubman. I have gone full circle now the cosworth has gone and I bought a mk2 Cooper s. I will have a look at your van thread later. I am terrible at just coming on here and keeping my thread up to date and not actually looking at any other threads.

Well a few weeks ago now I got the GT moved to the new house and this evening with a little help from a mate I got it off the rotisserie so I can access the engine bay which needs prepping and painting before the subframe goes in. First up was the problem of not being able to move it if I put it on stands which might not have been a problem if the new garage wasn't such a tight squeeze with 2 cars in. Therefore I needed a solution in the form of a trolley. After the picture I added 2 pieces of 3x2 that will actually touch the car and covered those in anti slip material. Then simply drop the mini on top. The mini has been on this a good 5/6 years so it feels like progress taking it off. The rotisserie is now in my way but a buyer has been found and it will be on its way to help the next mini in the next week.

In my opinion you have missed the boat if you were hoping to see a decent increase in value while owning one. I think 20k is top money and should buy a very good one. Any more than 20k and it would need to low milage and unrestored. I had a 3dr and the value took the enjoyment out of it. So I sold it. I just don't think they are worth the money and I couldn't pay porsche 997 money to myself back into one.

Looks like a good base car for a project but if you're forced to sell due to emissions you might as well sell it now or move out of London. If you do go for keeping it, would you have it all painted? I carnt see it being an easy colour to match if you only have bits done.

It will be a slow depressing job but once you have got the repair all removed you will be just left with the original problem that faced the mot man all those years ago. I would leave the battery where it is. Its not going to be in the way of a zetec in a Mk4 escort so I see no benefits of it being relocated to the boot.

I don't like those battery tray repair panels. Most ones you see repaired are just welded over the top in an mot standard fashion. I would cut the bad out and then trim the new section to suit. A guy on the rsoc forum made his tray so it bolted in so he could get good paint coverage and also ment it was removable for cleaning purposes.
