Always worth tapping up the smaller garages for part exchanges and stuff they have laying about or due to come in.

Haha. When I first saw the blue one (there is a picture here somewhere) I looked for a Carlton or Rekord to convert but was unsure about the tailgate arrangement because of the full width lights. I didn't realise it was a real thing not a home made one. Never thought I'd end up owning one! Sadly I think the chances of getting a convertible without a lottery win are pretty much zero. Anyway. Once it lands here I'll crack on with it. It's going to take quite a bit of work to get it nice. Obviously wheels and a tap with the stick Pondering a RHD conversion but I don't mind a lefty and I think it adds to the charm.

Ha. Actually nothing has really changed, the odd - coloured Saab is still sitting around, I saw the grey Discovery fairly recently and my now wife is still using the 3 door for horse towing and occasional off road duties. Can't believe this all happened so long ago! Still running those same big knobbly tyres too.

It's as much a genuine Senator Estate as any of them are. Yes it has the full width rear lights and in theory a set of secondary lamps in the rear bumper that operate if the tailgate needs to be open. Not a car that was really available so i'm very lucky this one found me. As I said, about 7 were made mainly due to the huge cost. It's a 12v CIH auto and has been fitted with GSE suspension, Rekords are live axle. No more pics yet

We use Forte products and they do make quite a difference, certainly the difference between a pass and a fail.
Never investigated the science but the principle of "buy this for a tenner and your emissions will pass" seemed sound enough.

Plans are afoot, it's in Scarborough. There's no desperate rush. I tend to buy myself a car for my birthday but I've accidentally bought 2 this year and there are still a few weeks to go.
Thanks though. Might be a bit out of your way!

Keinath made about 7 of them. The cost of the build was equivalent to buying a Senator CD saloon and a well spec'd Rekord 2.2 estate. . . I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it and all its leathery trimmed goodness. I guess I'll need a convertible to complete the set. (I know where I can find one too)

Not exactly. It's a translation thing... Think of something that you probably haven't seen before and you may not even know exists. In fact, this is the only one over here. While it may not be in its prime, it's mine and it will return to the road.

Much as I need another thing to do like a hole in the head, I was offered this device and couldn't really turn it down. MonzaNikki hasn't attended the last 2 Gatherings due to a clash with some sort of horsey nonsense, however, she assures me she'll be along next year (might have been a threat actually). Originally, I would camp in our big tent but she's been using it, I've been relegated to the tiny tent although erecting (fnar fnar) it in the big "us lot" Gazebo makes it quite comfortable. Not good enough for 2 people though hence the need for a bigger thing. Now as a project, this has all the makings of something quite good, a new roof, custom interior and updated suspension. It's had a couple of owners but it's a few years old isn't it. 2 people should be quite comfortable in it as there is room for 5 I think. I know it's come from the continent so I guess that makes it left hand drive All I need to do now is get it from the top of the country (nearly) down to me here on the south coast, I don't really want to risk towing it as it's old and heavy and hasn't been on the road for years. I guess it'll need a good going over and tyres etc. before paint and sprucing and stuff. Not the normal thing I purchased but I guess we'll see how it goes. I'll attempt pictures but I can't load them from here. Should be totally unique when it's done and I don't mean in a "quite unique except for the 15000 others" way.

The 4 speed and a 3.0 makes a world of difference. Particular the 4 speed bit. The 3 speed is not great.
Hope you find the right car. There aren't that many about anymore. They are a great bargain if you're not afraid to put in some effort.
